Founded in 1981, following MOMO’s international success, MOMODESIGN was created as a Design Center that specialized in research and development. Initially focusing heavily on automotive design, then becoming its own brand after Marco Cattaneo separated it from the MOMO Group. MOMODESIGN now creates lifestyle pieces with a modern design from exotic materials such carbon fiber, titanium, and magnesium. To celebrate their 30th Anniversary they’ve rekindled their ties with Delta to release a stunning new set of pens.

This new series of pens, limited to 981 fountain pens and 981 roller balls, features carbon fiber, a titanium nib, and Delta’s brilliant orange celluloid. Around the center of the pen is a solid sterling silver ring with “MOMODESIGN” and their logo. A very limited version of only 30 piecies, named Celebration, will feature 18k rose gold hardware, black celluloid, and carbon fiber. The fountain pen will be a piston filler, of course.

Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of this pen is the windowed cap that allows you to see the nib when the pen is capped. I don’t recall ever seeing a cap quite like this. I really like the design of this pen, especially the strong contrast between the orange celluloid and the carbon fiber. My only complaint is that this pen is only available with fine or medium nib options. But, I hardly consider that a deal breaker. MSRP is $1095 but I’ve spoken to Bryant at Pentime.com and he’s selling it for $695. That’s a much lower price than I was expecting.

What are you thoughts on this pen? Too expensive? Too flashly? Too awesome? Let us know!

It feels a bit to over designed as if they crammed two to many ideas on the pen. I would love to see it in person though.

This is a work of art and combines all of my favorite materials. I have the carbon fiber Dunhill Ad 2000 and Dunhill Sentryman, the Dolce Vita Piston Filler and Delta Titanio with wonderful titanium nib and this pen seems to bring all three of those great pens together in one awe-inspiring pen. If my budget would allow, I would grab one on release.

Mike, you just became my new best friend! I feel the exact same way about this pen. If we ever meet at a show I'll buy ya a drink. Deal?

I just saw this pen in person, and it’s a real head-turner. Very cool. Very Italian. The nib-view window, which sounds daffy in theory, is really cool in person.

(I’ve Been a fountain pen nut for a couple of decades now and just found your site. It’s fantastic. Well done.)
