TWSBI Speedy daily carry pens

From L to R: Precision ball pen, Micarta, Diamond 540 & Diamond mini

In addition to giving us another look at the Diamond Mini that shows off the black piston knob, Speedy has been so kind to show us all what pens he carries on a daily basis and how he does it. Anyone surprised by his selection?

I find his pen wrap to be quite interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that holds pens on the outside. This would certainly make them very easy to access.

Thank you Speedy for sharing this!

Oh no! The pens are touching in that Seiko case! Okay so I am a little phobic of cases that let fountain pens touch. :\ Gel pens, mechanical pencils and the like are fine in those. The wrap is awesome. Love the external pocket. As for the black mini, if they don’t make a 540 in that trim, I’m going to be disappointed.

    • Les

If that trim is not offered, you could always purchase a black and clear mini, then just mix the pieces between the two pens. I have contemplated doing that with my three 540′s.

      Love the wraps!

That is true if they are the same diameter and thread pitch.

Oooh I made my first pen wrap yesterday. I had scrap material and I wanted to try my hand at making one. The pens on the outside is a neat idea, I may have to try and make a similar one soon. I especially like the fabric design although I’d probably make one more asian looking.

    Hi Dan,

there actually is a pen wrap that features an outer pocket for a pen,
    the ENVELOOP Roll Pen Case:
    http://bundoki.com/?pid=6442747 (Japan only, I think).

It is made out of denim plus some leather parts.

Since the Bundonki tells the measuremants and has some good pictures it should not be too difficult to make one the DIY-way.

What watch was he wearing? A grand Seiko? It kinda looks like a GS chronograph in the first picture!

I’m guessing that would be correct since the pen pouch is from a Grand Seiko that he purchased.

I did a search on the pen wrap label “Chan’s Handmade” and came across the following link to more of Chan’s beautiful pen wraps.

Haven’t found a website where they can be purchased but they are Gorgeous!

If you can Chinese (I unfortunately cannot) you can buy them here:

And I found a blogpost with some measurements:

It’s also the blog where the pictures of the flickr-account mentioned above get be used.

You can click on the tag “蟬手作” (cicada’s[=Chan] hand made) to get a list of the threads with the pictures.

Wow, I guess I’d better double check my post for grammar mistakes…;-(

Speedy needs to offer those gorgeous pen wraps on his web store.

  • mj

you can change the language to english on the store website. btw i just did a TWD to USD conversion for one of the large pen wraps and its close to 52$ for the wrap alone.

    • Pinkys.Brain

@mj: That’s almost as much as you have to pay for the Japanese Enveloop pen case (but it does not get shipped outside of Japan).
