Sailor Pro Gear Limited Edition Sakuro fountain penIn collaboration with Mitsukoshi, a department store in Nihonbashi, Sailor has released a new limited edition fountain pen based on the Professional Gear called the Sakura Edo.

Sakura is the timeless flower that Japanese people never cease to love. Featuring Sakura petals on the cap ring, the image of the cherry blossom that is embodied by the pale pink body, the sparkle of spring is reflected in this pen.
The image of the stem of the sakura tree is expressed via the original brown ink include with this package. Highly recommended for the writings of the new life at the start of Spring.

Limited to only 100 pens, the Sakura Edo is made from resin, features a 21k rhodium plated gold nib, and measures 129mm. Included with the pen is a converter and a bottle of “Edo Sakura” brown ink. This limited edition is currently available from Mitsukoshi for 23,100 yen (~$292).

Beautiful! With those little hearts engraved on the side, they should have offered this up closer to Valentine’s Day. It’s my favorite shade of pink, too.

Erm, those are sakura petals around the cap band.. But yes, very cute indeed.

Just to clarify Dan, Edo is the old name of Tokyo and is meant to convey a poetic feel to the sakura imagery.

Also don’t quote me on this by I think Mitsukoshi only delivers to cities within Japan. Sorry about the double post.

Who was that newbie that thought those Sakura petals were hearts?  Sheesh! They just let anyone in this place, don’t they?

OK…I guess there’s no need in even trying to pretend that I know something about fountain pens … but I still say this is a BEAUTIFUL pen!

It makes my heart skip a beat. :-)
