UPDATE 2: Brian Anderson has written a comprehensive report of his experience at the Triangle Pen Show which was filled with booze, food, and lots of driving. Oh, I think he mentioned something about a pencil, too. Check it out at Andersonpens.net.

UPDATE: Jonathan Veley posted a great show report at his blog, The Leadhead’s Pencil Blog. Definitely check this one out!

triangle pen showIf you’re anything like me then you just can’t wait to hear about other people’s experiences at pen shows. I really wanted to go to Raleigh for the 9th Annual Triangle Pen show but it just wasn’t possible, especially if I’m going to try to make it to DC. So, while you and I wait for full show reports to start trickling in check out this article over at newsobserver.com.

I was fortunate enough to have Ron Zorn, Richard Binder, and Pendleton Brown work on an assortment of my pens.  PB is THE MAN!  On Friday he spent ~30 minutes grinding and adjusting a nib of mine that had unbelievably tight tines.  Unfortunately, those tines tightened back up overnight, killing the flow.  When I went back on Saturday, PB tuned that sucker until it was perfect, free of charge.  I was so impressed that I also picked up a Lamy 2000 w/ CI grind from him (at a ridiculously modest price), which is now one of the smoothest nibs I own.  THANK YOU PENDLETON!

Oh, and PB gave me a fist bump when he finished up my nib work.  How awesome is that?!

I actually got work done from the same trio. Richard Binder stubbed my Edison Pearl LEA broad nib into a .8 stub. Ron Zorn turned my Sheaffer Snorkel Sovereign pastel blue with cracked barrel into a pastel green pen. Pendleton Brown sold me a Broad Butter Line Stub with Angel Wings for TWSBI 540.

I actually feel badly that I didn’t have Mike  Matsuyama work on anything for me at the show, but I just didn’t have another pen I wanted to get a grind for at the moment. I’m going to figure out a way to try his work because now that I caught stub fever I have it pretty badly!

Also, if anybody is into this sort of thing, there is a two minute walk through of the show posted on my blog.
