The bold and stunning rings on the cap and the pearlized colors of the Catalina collection immediately take you on a nautical journey to your favorite island getaway. A quick one hour boat ride from the coast of Los Angeles, California and you arrive at the incredible beauty of crystal blue water and sandy beaches of Catalina Island that are awaiting for you. The revolutionary clip with a roller wheel facilitates easy placement in your pockets, and like a trustworthy anchor, provides firm adherance. Pushing the entire cap of the ballpoint pen engages or retracts the writing point with a convenient one-handed click action. The ballpoint pen accepts Monteverde® P1 and P4 refills. The fountain pen is available in Fine, Medium, Broad and Stub sizes.

I don’t know how “revolutionary” that roller clip is but I’ve always liked that style so I’m glad Monteverde included it on these new fountain pens. The availability of a Stub nib also makes up for the cartridge / converter filling system and the $125 retail price makes this fountain pen more than doable. Also, if you’re at all interested in the ballpoint it retails for $95 and they’re both available right now. Now, I just have to decide between the blue and the brown (looks more orange to me, but whatever).
UPDATE
The pens you see above with the matte silver trim are actually prototypes. The Monteverde Catalina will come with shiny, chrome plated hardware as seen below. I’ll keep all the photos posted for reference. Now, this situation obviously begs the question, which do you like more: silver matte or chrome?
