Some of you may remember the little event called Camp Edison that we setup with Brian Gray after the Chicago Pen Show. That event actually served two purposes. One: we got an inside look at how pens are produced at the Edison Pen Company, and two: it was the perfect cover for installing a few cameras and a few helpful apps on his computers; helpful for us anyway. In the image below, you can see some of the “photography” equipment we had to bring in for the covert operation. It’s a good thing Brian doesn’t know anything about photography, otherwise this whole operation would have been a little more difficult. As it was, his son, Andrew, was our biggest threat to being exposed. That kid is wicked smart and catches on real quick!

Finally, after waiting more than two months for something good to appear, we finally have some info worth sharing. While we missed getting anything concrete on the recent Limited Edition Glemont, we do have some information on the new Production Line pen being produced. The image below shows off a whole rack of caps for what we believe is the new Beaumont. We can clearly see that it has a cap band, and that the finial is short and beveled.  We can clearly see the blue flake material that is on the front row.  The other materials in the back rows are a little tougher to define.

Once we realized the importance of this image we fired up our nifty little spying app and did some searching on the Edison servers. I don’t know if Brian is still on dial-up but the severe lack of bandwidth only allowed us to get a quick peek at the directories and file names. We sorted by ‘recently modified’ and a folder called “Beaumont Product Release” rose to the top. Looking at the file extensions we could see there were a lot of images, all too large for us to download before we got disconnected. One interesting thing we did notice were several .pdf files with “Early August Release” in the file name. We’d put money on seeing this pen released in the next week or two. We’ll keep you updated with any further developments.

Is this the heavy piston filler he was talking about?

    • MrsGouletPens

Nope. It’ll be a cartridge/converter like the rest of the production line ;)

  • anaximander

This is unconscionable! Taking pictures of someone’s finials without their knowledge! You should be ashamed.

    • eriquito

Oh we are. Very, very ashamed. But in our defense… Brian’s got some very good looking finials.
