Is this the same as the Diamine Eclipse? It looks a lot like that.

    • Maja

SakiVI, there is a very usefuly interactive tool on the GouletPens website here http://www.gouletpens.com/Swab_Shop_s/813.htm
(the two colours are quite different, to my eyes at least).
Thanks for another awesome Inkcyclopedia review, Stephen!

      • Maja

        Ooops, I misspelled “useful” above—apologies.
Stephen–just wondering if you plan to keep on doing a new manufacturer each time (ie. you’ve done a Noodler’s review, then a J. Herbin review and now a Diamine review)…or if your ink review selection is based on personal favourites? I guess I’m just wondering how you choose the inks that you review (if you don’t mind me asking :) Thx in advance!

        • Stephen Brown

Well, on the last FPGeeks Fountain Pen Radio episode, the viewers/listeners chose Lie de Thé to be the next ink, and Twilight was a runner-up. Apart from that, there is no system ;-) .

          • Maja

Gotcha! Thanks again for all your hard work :)

    • Michel de Montreal

Eclipse is darker almost black and has purplish hues as opposed to blue :)

Also, this is what I think of a blue-black ink looking like.

  • The Ruffled Quill

Oh very nice another on the shopping list! Thanks Doc

  • Alan Crone

Loving the range of accents (personalities!?!). A beautiful ink, perhaps a good sub., for Mont Blanc’s, “Midnight Blue”. Ps – color, or coloUr…he, he, he! Alan (another geeky Psychologist).

    • Stephen Brown

So far I can control them, but perhaps one of these days a given accent will take over ;-) .

Could you include a discussion of how easy or difficult it is to clean out of the pen? Thank you.

  • sfkenk

Could you please show the reverse side of the papers so that we can get an idea of shadowing and bleed through? Thank you. Enjoying and learning from your reviews.

    • Stephen Brown

Yes, I already wanted to do that here, but I forgot – you mention a good point: bleedthrough/shade-through is an important aspect of judging an ink! Clearly, the amount of both is quite dependent on the paper used, but Rhodia and copier paper should give an impression. I’ll try not to forget next time :-) .

  • Michel de Montreal

My good friend Victor uses a brush pen filled with water to make passes over the lines in his artwork…. :) it’s quite useful to see what inks are smudgy with water. Nice addition :)

  • Michel de Montreal

Funny coincidence after each ink review when I look up said Ink on the Goulet’s website, it’s out of stock……. I wonder ;)

  • Michel de Montreal

PS: if you’d like the white balance in the pictures corrected I’d be more then happy to assist :)

    • Stephen Brown

I fear it’s my video conversion software that interferes here! The video looks good straight from the camera, but the writing gets a little grittier and more pixelated during video conversion (i.e. sewing intro, talk, and writing together)… I’ll see if I can improve that a bit :-) .
