Montblanc has gone and done something unfamiliar. They’ve released a product with nary a single public mention. No tweets. No facebook posts. Nothing. That just seems quite unexpected to me.

This Montblanc Limited Edition Meisterstuck Diamond Collection Bright Blue ink comes in the same 30 ml bottle as the Hitchcock, Love, Joy, and Friendship inks. It sells for $17.00 and is only available from Montblanc boutiques and a single online retailer, Pen Boutique. But don’t bother going to their website because it’s not listed there. You’ll have to call them and pray there’s still some in stock. People have been buying them multiple bottles at a time.

The ink is good, too. Everyone who’s used it seems to be very happy with it. Here’s a quick shot of the ink compared to a few others. Be sure to check out the excellent review by Bigeddie.

    MB Midnight Blue is my tied-for-1st favorite ink (the other is Iroshizuku kon-peki). For that reason I was very curious about this ink. I was thrilled to receive a bottle as a gift last week. It is a beautiful ink. The flow and shading properties are great. I’m trying to find a paper where the shading I see on writing remains once the ink dries, as it seems to dry a bit flatter. Still, if anyone is interested in this, they should pick up a bottle.

    Like Tamara I love MB midnight blue, one of my favorite inks but I have been looking for a lighter blue that has lovely shading and tone and when I saw some writing samples of this one it went right to the top of my list. I don’t normally like blue as most seem resemble ball point blue too much and just look bland, this one though is stunning. I have asked my local MB dealer to get me a bottle but if that does not happen does anyone have any ideas to an ink with similar colour ans shanding properties? I won’t use noodlers or PR though! Suggestions would be very welcome. I loved Diamine majestic blue but had severe flow issues with it and it is not quite the blue either!
