The new Nakaya Cherry Blossoms In The Evening is a much more subdued design compared to some of their other recent offerings. This new fountain pen is based on the portable cigar model in ebonite and uses the very difficult Kaki-Wari technique. Taken literally, Kaki-Wari means drawn division. It’s a maki-e technique in which fine lines and other details are intentionally not painted with urushi prior to sprinkling with powder. This creates a separation between elements allowing the background to create the border around the objects. This pen is available for order at Nakaya.org for $2900.
