A couple weeks ago I saw an email come in from the Zoss List about a promotional discount on the first order of ink from a company called Organics Studio. I had never heard of Organics Studio but the offer was a little too good to pass up and I’m always game for trying out new inks. A few minutes later I had 6 bottles purchased and on their way to me.

So who is Organics Studio, what do they make, and is it any good?

Organics Studio is a small start up company based in Maryland created by Tyler Thompson, a biochemistry major at the University of Maryland. Their first (and only, as of right now) product is a line of fountain pen ink called OrganINK. I know what you’re probably thinking at this point, but no, they don’t have anything to do with organic products. Their name is a play on the subject of Organic Chemistry.

I don’t know about you but I’m feeling much better now that I know who to go after with pitchforks and torches should something go wrong. Actually, I doubt you’ll have a problem with any of their inks or services, but if you do, I’m sure Tyler will be more than willing to help you. He’s a very nice guy.

Their Elements line of OrganINK ink includes 10 different colors with more on the way. Currently available is Carbon Black, Cobalt Blue/Purple, Mercury Red, Neon Orange, Manganate V Blue/Black, Nickel Teal, Uranium Green, Lithium Violet, Vanadium Lavender, and Boron Brown. Each ink comes in a 55mL bottle for $12.50 or you can order a 5mL sample for only $2. I love that you can order a sample direct from the manufacturer. I wish every ink company offered something like that.

Organics Studio is also differentiating themselves by offering two levels of an Ink Review Membership. Each level includes a certain number of samples along with exclusive access to their Ink Reviewers Facebook page where you’ll receive extremely discounted pricing on inks directly from Organics Studio. This will be a nice feature to have once their ink is being sold through retailers, which they’re actively pursuing. You’ll also have first priority in receiving access to special/limited edition inks in the future.

C’mon, get to the inks already!

You can see a few swab samples I made below. The colors are fantastic. At the moment, I only have Carbon Black, Neon Orange, and Mercury Red in a few of my pens and I’m really enjoying them so far. I haven’t run any test yet, but you can expect to see Inkcyclopedia entries for each one of these inks in the future. In the meantime, be sure to check out Organics Studio’s website, Twitter, and facebook page.

Thanks for the write up! We hope you love the inks! :)

No real international shipping (only some major countries) means I can’t order anything. Worldwide shipping isn’t a big deal. Even startups should know that.

Email me at info@organicsstudio.com, and we will work it out. We can’t possibly cover all shipping options on our site, but we do ship international.

Suggesting someone to contact you by email and then ignoring his email is also a bad practice…

We never got an email. We check it almost non-stop, and usually reply within the hour. I would like to personally apologize if you have had any issue with our company.

I can’t get their website to open using either of my browsers. Would love to order

I wouldn’t be surprised if their servers couldn’t handle all the traffic we’re sending.

        <3 we love it guys

Same, I can’t open their site either :(

If they are using Volusion (which they appear to be), then their website is down like 35k+ other eCommerce websites right now, including the Goulet Pen Company.

I just got on after being unsuccessful for about 10 minutes. You just have to be persistent!

I have some of these inks on order and can’t wait to play with them. There are some unique colours in that group and I love to support start-ups who want to do something a bit different.

  • Writingrav

    Thanks. I finally got in.

It was a Volusion issue. It is all better now, though :)

Manganate V is currently my favourite ink. It’s just gorgeous.

I have some of this ink and will be reviewing it. In fact, I have 3 such reviews basically in the can but got sort of discouraged with some technical issues last week and took a few days off. The reviews will be up soon, and I cannot wait to see more reaction to the inks elsewhere as well.

Lee, I’m most certainly looking forward to reading your thoughts. Please be sure to let us know when they go live.
