2012 Lamy 2000 2000M Stainless Steel fountain pen uncapped

In March we dropped some info on a new Lamy 2000 fountain pen made from all brushed stainless steel. The MSRP of $375 with an estimated street price of $300 seemed to turn off a lot people, even long time fans of the original Lamy 2000. There has also been a lot of speculation about whether or not this new version would have the little metal tabs between the section and barrel that are used to hold the cap on because in all of Lamy’s photos they’re missing. But, as we can see above, they’re still there and the ink window is definitely gone.

These won’t be available in the US until sometime around mid-October, but you can get it here for $300. The matching ballpoint and rollerball will be available at an MSRP of $135 and $150, respectively.

You can find more information on Lamy’s website.

Oh mercy. It almost looks like a Myu. Hope there’s one to fondle in DC.

If I was going to DC and there was one there to touch, I would most certainly be coming home with it. I had to destroy my mouse just so I wouldn’t be able to buy it!

Guilty. I’m not in the car as much these days.

No tabs on the section; good. $300 street price – outrageous.

I think you might have misread, or I mistyped, but there are tabs on it just like on the original.

Hey guys! Upon seeing this thread, I immediately emailed my Lamy rep to see if I could confirm the US date (it seemed ridiculous that we’d have to wait 3 more months from the rest of the world). Looks like it may be on track for mid-August! Hope to get a more concrete update in the next week.

It will probably be a lovely pen but I don’t think one will make it to my collection – but stranger things have happened.

I love that matte finish, but the price is too bad… Then again, how many of us who dislike the price will end up with one anyway :-) ? Does anyone here agree that we should try to make fountain pen purchases tax-deductible? They’re a bare necessity, right ;-) ?

Office Supplies are tax-deductible in the US. If you are generating any income with your videos you might be able to write them off, check your local tax laws. I absolutely write my pens off as I use them to do much of my work!
