We will be testing a new streaming solution involving Google+ Hangouts On Air that will live stream to our YouTube channel. This won’t be a regular hangout where anyone can join. It will be limited to only Eric, Stephen, and Dan, but anyone will be able to watch. We will embed the video feed and chat room in this post shortly before we go live.

The reason we’re moving away from UStream is because the video and audio are rarely synced and the audio for the audio only podcast is of very low quality. After the show, we highly encourage you to leave feedback in the comments, not the chat room.

This episode was recorded live on Saturday, September 1, 2012:

Q: does posting the cap scratch both the cap, and the pen? Otherwise, very nice looking pen!

    • http://fpgeeks.com/ Dan Smith

I wouldn’t think so. We’d need to use it for much longer to find out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/RsMom2ButtonLady Chris Parham

TL refresh the page, and click on the arrow.

if you can accidentally railroad, it’s full (y)

    • http://fpgeeks.com/ Dan Smith

I would disagree. I can railroad the Ahab and I wouldn’t even consider that semi-flex.

      • http://www.facebook.com/RsMom2ButtonLady Chris Parham

I can easily back-pedal on this – am thinking of vintage gold nibs – the Omas is surely gold nib? Gorgeous pen!

  • http://www.facebook.com/RsMom2ButtonLady Chris Parham

Pilot V-(arsity) not disposable, pull nib-section straight out, refill, and push nib-section back in

orange pens don’t sing to me, but that persimmon swirl sure does! Recently testdrove 3 Edison pens. Exceeded my high expectation.

    very stable.

never found the google hangout page

  • Dgator

Success! Video & audio were clear. Thought Stephen was sitting in my living room, instead of halfway around the globe. Never lost the feed, unlike my Ustream experience. The chat is an area for improvement. Figured out where to type comments; had to scroll down to keep up with current chat. The superb audio/video more than makes up for the shortcomings of the chat. Thanks guys!

  • Esquilo

perfect! video and audio clear. nothing more to say just watch and listen1

  • cerbeos

Soooooo happy you decided to go with G+!!! I can actually watch the video now!!!

  • The Ruffled Quill

Well the Google + habg out was much better quality audio and sync and best of all no ads – great choice

  • ArtJourney

I never have a problem with Ustream, I don’t see ads (on the iPad app) and the chat is fab, however I struggled with this. It wasn’t fed to YouTube live/hangout (I checked all the live streams) and the embedded video on here froze on me at least 10 times, each time requiring a refresh and a relogin to chat.

The chat was old school and painful (software advances for a reason!) and would randomly boot you. The video was clear, but no clearer than usual as that generally depends on the hosts/guests cameras (some are better than others). I missed the onscreen graphics as the desktop views were a bit distant. There was no speech lag, which made it sound like you guys were having a proper conversation rather than talking over each other (like it usually does).

I liked the video switching, obviously apart from when someone coughed or scraped their chair and the video would switch for a second to a shocked look, lol. All in all, for me, no better than usual; frustrating to find (I was sitting in the Ustream channel for 15 mins wondering where everyone was!) and buggy. But then I don’t have a problem with ustream, so… Perhaps it’s better this side of the pond!

  • writingrav

I thought it was much, much better. Didn’t try the chat because I can’t watch live at the new time. Definitely much better than UStream, though.

    • Maja

      +1!

  • Jim Blackie

Far superior. This also removed the issue of Eric always stepping on the lines of the others, making it hard to follow discussions at times. I guess there was an issue of time delay through the broadcast.

  • OcalaFlGuy

IMO, the Lamy 2000 Stainless should hereafter be known as the Lamy 2KM

Does that sound bad or what?
