In March we made the announcement of Sailor’s Imperial Pro Gear fountain pen and proclaimed it the pen Batman would use. The Pro Gear is by no means a huge pen, but may still be a bit too large for some. Enter the Pro Gear Slim, now available in Imperial Black. Unfortunately, also available in Japan only.

The Imperial Pro Gear Slim is a limited edition of 100 pieces exclusive to 趣味の文具箱 (Shumi no bungubako) magazine. They’re well known for their selection of fountain pens. The nib and accents are titanium Ion plated, the same as Sailor’s Professional gear Imperial black. The barrel of the Pro Gear Slim is slightly smaller than the Pro Gear, but still retains good balance in the hand. The nib was designed to be as plain as possible being stamped only to indicate Karat 14K/585 on the surface, nib width H-MF (Hard-Medium Fine) and serial number xxx/100.

The Imperial Pro Gear Slim is a cartridge/converter filling fountain pen that measures 17mm in diameter and 124mm in length, a bit smaller than the 129mm of the standard Pro Gear. This pen went on sale on August 7 for ¥24,150 (~$308), only available through Side River with a few units still in stock.
