Three new inks from Iroshizuku coming in November

December of 2011 was the last time Pilot released any new colors in the Iroshizuku line. We received four colors then,  and now, almost a year later we’re getting three more: Takesumi, Shinkai, and Amairo.

Takesumi (Bamboo Charchoal)

Shinkai (Deep Sea)

Amairo (Sky Blue) – Iro means colour and ama refers to the sky.

The three new inks will come in the famous Iroshizuku bottle that we all know and love and is planned for a November release in Japan with no confirmation on a US release date. It will be available through Engeika, a very reputable seller from Japan who ships to the US, so importing it shouldn’t be a problem.

      They’re pretty different, probably not different enough for some though.

      Kinda like a goldenrod? I was expecting a goldenrod or a sunset gold. That would be gorgeous. But I guess they’re going for more of a “colours you would find on an ukiyo-e print” type of series.

    I think the iroshizuku blues are beautiful, they probably know it too…since they have released far too many of them…

      Well Japanese people appreciate different shades of blue and use it in their artworks to represent contrast and tonality of the sea and the sky. The Iroshizuku series reflects this appreciation, it’s quite poetic actually.
