The first series in Aurora’s trip through the Italian seas was dedicated to Mar Ligure and the second to Mar Tirreno. The third, Mar Ionio, was inspired by nature, history, and heritage.
Sun is the color of the Mar Ionio Collection. A color that most of all recalls to mind the typical warmness of Italian seas.
Along the three bands found on the pen are characteristic symbols of Mar Ionio.
Around the clip ring is represente the Riace Bronzes, two famous full-size Greek bronzes of nude bearded warriors, cast about 460–450 BC and housed by the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia in Reggio Calabria, Italy.
Finally, the bottom ring features olives and hot peppers, with the ancient Greek and Albanese wording “Mar Ionio”
The Aurora Mar Ionio fountain pen features an 18k gold nib, piston filler, and is limited to 480 pieces worldwide at a MSRP of $1,495.
During my time with the Mar Tirreno, I found it to be an amazing writer! I wasn’t at all interested in the Italian sea theme, but once I spent some time with the pen it quickly became my favorite. The nib was superb and the celluloid was drool inducing. I can’t wait to see the Mar Ionio in person!
