twsbi micarta v2 fountain penTWSBI has finally updated their Micarta fountain pen to include a few important updates. Version 2 of the Micarta 805 includes an all new inner sealing cap to help prevent the nib from drying out, a common issue among a number of users of the first edition.

This new version of the Micarta will also sport a new nib and come packaged with its very own notebook that includes a cutout just for the pen! It looks like the notebook comes with grid lined paper without the option to specify lined or blank.

As with the previous version, this new fountain pen utilizes the cartridge/converter filling system and comes in 4 nib sizes: EF, F, M, and B. The Micarta is also available with or without a clip, an option that more manufacturers need to start offering!

Version 2 of the TWSBI Micarta can be purchased directly from TWSBI for $100. It should be available through the usual TWSBI retailers very soon.

If you’re not familiar with the Micarta material, it’s an industrial thermoset laminate usually comprised of phenolic, epoxy, silicone, or melamine resin reinforced with fiberglass, cotton cloth, paper, carbon fiber or other substrates. The result is an extremely tough and durable material that feels excellent in the hand!

    But still no stubs.

Buy a Broad and have it ground. The nib will get tuned along with the grind and be better than any stock TWSBI stub available.

I bought one of Goulet Pens #6 stubs for my Micarta. It works perfectly.

Is the cut out notebook available? That is pretty cool.
