Thanks for reminding me, jor412! I have to add a red Sheaffer "No Nonsense" fountain pen to my list above, since it was my first fountain pen. Great knockabout pen with lots of nib options and...
Yes, please feel free to drop in at our next pen club meeting on the 16th! Our club is free to join and there are no dues (or duties). No RSVPs necessary either, unless the meeting is at a restaurant...
Ooops! Forgot that yesterday was the second day (Friday) of the Chicago pen show, not the first day (Thursday). In any case, nice haul, David! (I really do need to attend a pen show this year...
Oh my. Well, at least it wasn't a nice nib. It happened to me with a nib on my Retro 51 Scriptmaster (original series). I think I removed the nib and feed to clean them thoroughly and I...
Really? I had no idea....Where shall I buy more? Anyone.......??
:jester:
It's only Thursday and you've already found some great pens in Chi Town?? Wow.... :jaw:
Sorry for the thread drift, folks....back to the topic at hand..and AFAIK, FPN is truly offline due to...
David, I thought you'd be schmoozing at the Chicago show! :p
I didn't see any of Wim's posts before he deleted them so I'm the dark 'bout that....
As for your suggestion....I have never put...
Wow, this is a really good question, Laura---thanks for starting this thread! :)
If I lost all my pens and had to start over, I would probably go for quality over quantity. When I first started...
Good question! I write them down on a piece of paper because I have so many inked up at once  but I think I will start using a small notebook---goodness knows I have enough of those!...
That is so cool, Oakiris!
I bought a green Esterbrook J at an antique show and it was missing its barrel jewel. I replaced the sac but I was still paranoid about ink leaking...
I sincerely hope the mods and admins at FPN realize this. Wim PM'd me and specifically mentioned he wasn't going to read the entire thread. I responded and said that's exactly what he should do...
Hi KCat! :cheer2:
Oh wow. Sorry, Ivan. That's too bad, but at least it wasn't a terribly expensive pen or sentimental favourite... :(
The only problem with the 21 is that they develop hairline cracks in the section and leak ink. Otherwise they are good pens.
Mine don't have cracks or leak :p
See, I don't like them at all. I really don't like how the nib sticks out.
The open-nibbed versions are very nice though. I do like the striped anodised caps.
Well, I like them better...
I deliberately avoid buying them unrestored as they are notorious for being difficult to resac: (from here : "Also, although it is doubtful that Wateremjan actually intended the Taperite to be...
You wrote "On the other hand, it sucks up ink through the same path fine and I can prime the feed by twisting the convertor knob a bit and the ink goes through. "
so....just possibly the nib & feed...
Good grief, you're still talking about FPN??
The lady (and gentlemen) doth protest too much, methinks....
Answer: because if the review disappears from the reviewer's blog, it disappears from the FPN site as well, and it's very annoying (think of all the stuff hosted by Photobucket et al that disappears...
Is the Waterman converter a new one (the kind with no metal collar near the 'nipple', just a black plastic collar)? If so, that might be the problem as the new-style ones described above do not fit...
Hi Barbara! Nice to have another Canuck on board... :D
I have an Eclipse "Vis-O-Ray" model made of the same material (but different cap and barrel styling)
Someone on FPN was trying to ID a pen that was the same as my Vis-O-Ray but in reddish-brown....
Funnily enough...See this FPN link :bounce:
Very cool, Ivan!
Now, I have to ask....Do you have a TIE fighter fountain pen?
Thanks for the pen show report, FPkid!
Great people, great pens and great bargains are why I go to the shows! :)
Sorry to hear about the Anderson pen theft---that's awful.. :(
