I am aware of the way to refinish lacquer finish on wood. Would it be safe to say the same basic process is what you would do on a lacquer finish pen?

This was my first attempt which didn't turn out to bad. However it was a experiment so things can only get better.

I should have known to look for a video from you
I will have a Parker Sonnet soon which has some scratching on the surface. I am pretty confident I can fix it and add lacquer. My real concern is the metal trim. Mainly the metal ring. I don't think taping it off will be enough.

The pen this post is about should be here today. Between then the other day I have looked at photos of it. I think the scratches in the finish can be repaired by using the simple scratch removal process such as the one you mention in one or two of your videos.
Ray, I would love to see pictures of your pen before and after. Good luck with it.
Well I finally received the pen and I think the original owner was being over critical. Anything I saw wrong with the finish could have been buffed out. However, yesterday I dropped it barrel end first onto the blacktop in the street. Now it has a ding in the finish down to the brass. I am thinking I might look into having a local professional car painter or perhaps metal body model builder work on it. It's a small ding but enough to bug me. Luckily I post my caps. So, I don't have to see it while I write, lol.
