my wife and i are decluttering and i stumbled upon my old calligraphy tools. as i was sifting through the nibs and inks, i found this old pen, which i hadn't seen before.
i'm guessing it belonged to my paternal grandfather, whom i never had the chance to meet. i'm curious to find out a bit more about this pen. i've read whatever history there is to be seen on this forum, but i'd like to know whether it's worth trying to get this thing working again, or should i just keep it as a memento.
since i don't really have anything else from my grandfather, my curiosity was piqued. here's what i found out:
the pen is a matador. it weighs 23 grams and is about 13 cm long. the cap is gold-colored the logo at the tip and on the clip, otherwise the only text visible states "rolled gold", the cap doesn't screw on, but rather clicks on.
the nib is a castell 14K 585 and the body of the pen is striped black and reflective silver.
here's a few photos, i tried searching on google for this pen, but found nothing. any help would be appreciated. sorry for the lousy quality.
