Cool Poems and verse, doggerel and worse

I have an obsessive compulsive disorder
It's nothing like being a hoarder
    My mind has a curse
    to express things in verse
    and words in peculiar order

    If you are iambically blessed
    and believe you're the best
    or just want some fun
    while scribing a pun
    then please be my guest

    You are invited to write
    and express your delight
    in rhythms and rhyme
    which beats out in time
or doesn't, and loses the plot

At his desk sat the Bishop of Whittingham
Thinking of words and of writing 'em
So he took out his pen
    and wrote some and then
sat back and admired the wit in 'em

Come on guys, you must have something. No matter how bad you think it is, I want to read it. I know that we have talent in here. I will post this to encourage you.

    A beautiful girl from Mobile
wondered just how it would feel
    to write a love letter
    with pink that was wetter
than Noodler's ink of an eel

I'm afraid none of my poetry rhymes or fits a defined beat, all free verse and not at all funny.

Sounds to me as if it fits the category of "Poems and verse, doggerel and worse" very well then. We each have our talents, all different, all valid, all beautiful. Please join in. I want to read what you have to offer. If not I shall publish some of my depressing stuff, like:

    cheerless, grey, the skies today
    gloomy, cold with heavy cloud
no happy children out to play
while wet and misty, heavy shroud
    upon my world does lay.

I tried to write a poem,
    but found I couldn't rhyme.
    So instead of being useful,
    I sat here wasting time.

I really want to participate in this thread,
but there's nary a rhyme in my head.
If I stare at the screen long enough,
I might come up with something rough.
Now I'm thinking I should use a fountain pen and paper instead.

I didn't write this and perhaps no one would want to take credit for it but I do enjoy it. The story goes a man was trying hard to write a poem for his girl but as you see has a hard time staying on task.

    Roses and red,
    Violets are blue,
    Bacon is good,
    Mmmm, bacon...

    Wishing your ink flows smoothly,

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who mixed Baystate Blue in a bucket
Then he poured in some gin,
    Skrip, and Quink; peering in,
Said, 'If this didn't glow I would chuck it.'
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

    snap LOL

There was an old maid from Nantucket
who brewed iron gall ink in a bucket
    using only fresh galls
    crushed between mauls
and sold at one ounce for a ducet

It is said of the poet in verse
in terms that are cutting and terse
    its more an obsession
    not a profession
and never has filled any purse

These epitaphs aren't mine, but I did find them funny:

Under the flowers and under the trees
Lies the body of Jonathan Pease.
He is not here, there's only a pod
Pease shelled out and went to God.

Here lies the body of our beloved Anna
Done to death by a banana.
It wasn't the fruit that laid her low
But the skin of the thing that made her go.
