    Default Green Ink?

Can anyone recommend a few green colour inks to consider. I recall a Sherwood Green colour that looked ok and also a Diamine Ultra Green that took my eye

Awesome. What type of green ink? Light? Dark? Medium? Yellow-ish, or blue-ish? Straight crayola green? Olive?

Greens are so varied. I love some and hate others, and probably everyone feels that way, albeit about different greens. So you may get better recommendations if you give us some parameters. Also you can look at The Writing Desk or Goulet Pens swabs to get an idea of what's out there. Those swabs are never perfectly accurate, of course, and some of the inks work better in certain pens than others, but it can help you narrow down what you are looking for.

The first one that really caught my eye was the Diamine Ultra green. It is very vibrant and I am not sure if it would be too bright to write a letter etc. The darker greens (like the Sherwood green colour) seem a bit more suitable to letter writing etc. Also maybe buy both and something in between. Some of the colours of these inks just stand out. I love the Diamine Burnt Sienna and also the Herbin Bleu Pervenche. I have red, blue and black so green is about the next colour I would like to dabble in. I just am after some greens that others like so I can have a look and decide. Hope that makes sense

Montblanc Irish Green is a very nice green. Just green. Nothing more.

There are a few greens I really enjoy. J. Herbin's Vert Empire, PR Sherwood Green (gorgeous red sheen), & Diamine Evergreen amongst a few others.

I also go back and forth on Rohrer & Klingner's Alt Goldgrün. Sometimes I think it's hideous, other times I think it's gorgeous

I really like Sailor Tokiwa-matsu. It goes on a dark, forest green but dries as a green with a bit of a yellowish tint. I think of it like R&K Alt-Goldgrun but a little darker and easier to read. It also has a wonderful sheen when using a wet-writing nib (broad, stub, flex) and great performance.

I really have liked two greens so far; old Sheaffer Emerald Green--which you can sometimes find old bottles of for a reasonable price--and Noodler's Green. Just plain "Green". But I've only tried a few.

My favorite green is Diamine Sherwood Green (a darker Green) and my favorite green-black is Noodler's Air Corp Blue-Black (not a typo, in an EF nib it shows as green-black).

I have recently done some reviews in the review forum that included green inks: Diamine Sherwood Green, Diamine Delaware Green, Diamine Woodland Green, Diamine Tropical Green and Diamine Beethoven spring to mind.

I also like Mb Irish Green and their old Emerald Green if you can find it.

Pelikan Edelstein Aventurine Green is also very popular

Sherwood green is a good colour. For alternatives for daily use I agree with Chrissy, Beethoven is excellent and Salamander and Safari very good too. All Diamine inks, so not at boutique Japanese prices!

    Jon,
That is very affirmative. Yes I was attracted to from the start. It is an ink that I will definately order. I think for writing letters or whatever you dont want a really vibrant colour but a subtle colour IMO. I think Sherwood Green fits into that category. Thanks for the back up

So, what you're saying -- I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong -- is that you like Sherwood green ink?
