    Default Intro

Hello everyone! New to site and wanted to introduce myself. I am very green with regard to fountain pens but have collected other pen types for a few years. I currently only have a Pilot Metropolitan which bleeds like crazy! Want to grow my collection as much as I can. I am a teacher in Michigan and look forward to contributing, however I can, to this community!

    Regards,
    Dave

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. There's a good chance the problem is not the pen but the paper.

    Some questions for you.

Is your Metropolitan a fine or a medium nib?
Are you mostly writing on school paper?
What ink is in the pen?

I'm probably not using the right terminology when I refer to the pen "bleeding". What is happening with the pen is that ink is welling up on the nib. I took the whole pen apart and cleaned it and the problem has gotten better, however, there is still ink pooling on top of the nib next to the line (not sure the term) on the nib. I can post a picture if needed. My paper is just cheap notebook paper so the ink does "bleed" on that as well but i'm certain the problem with that is the paper being low quality. The nib I am using is a Fine nib. Thank you all for any information you can give me!

Dave, I have no experience with that pen/ink combo. Perhaps another member can offer some more information. Good luck.

    Hi Dave,

Welcome. I am a relatively new member and the first steps of dealing w/fountain pens can be a bit daunting.

How much ink is appearing on the nib since you cleaned it? Also, how is the performance of the nib?

    KR,
    Walt

A large drop usually. I will check when I get home and let you know for sure. I can post a picture if that would be helpful.
