    No sorry, none of these.

One of the previous guesses was warm but now we're getting cooler again.

    The manufacturer has been mentioned.

Seems likely, but I'll try another anyway: Diamine Raw Sienna?

    Sorry grainweevil, but no.

However yes, there it is, the 'PDL' effect of turning up at the right time after a clue has been given.

    It's Diamine Saddle Brown.....

Actually I knew the ink anyway I don't often resort to PDL, nor trawl swatches online. I'd get bored doing that. I tend just not to guess when I don't have any clue.

That'll make an interesting alternative to The Writing Desk's "Colorama"

Don't you find these sellers sites deceptive? I stopped looking at them when I was researching a particular ink and found in that instance that TWD, Vanness, CultPens and Goulet all had swatches of the ink, and they all looked really different.

Well I mean, we all know it's impossible to rely on online swatches anyhow, due to monitors alone. Factor in whether places scan or photograph, whether they do adjustments, etc... But a) I think they're useful to at least give a general idea, and b) better still, they're good for comparisons. If you have (or are familiar with) colors X and Y, you can toss them up next to color Z and see how it compares. Presumably each place does the same thing for all their swatches, so they ought to be fairly reliable in that context. Then you can tell, oh I shouldn't bother getting that one because it looks just like this other full bottle I have, or, whatever. That's my main use for them, anyway.

Yes I understand all these factors in relation to buying, and why some people use them. However I was referring to them as being deceptive for the purposes of Guess the Ink.
I have long since stopped using them when purchasing ink, but then I'm old and have bought a zillion bottles of ink over the years, so I'm probably too cynical these days

I wouldn't call them deceptive, so much as limited in usefulness. There are too many variables at play, both when making swatches, and when capturing images of them. And then I've seen for myself how different the exact same ink can look in different pens. But I find the swatches make as good starting point as any when looking for something new. And also a handy source of suspects to investigate further when ink sleuthing
