My other collecting--besides fountain pens--is what catches my fancy. F'instance,I have several Telechron clocks
that keep perfect time(one of them being the Electroalarm clock with a bell large enough to wake the dead);
an Admiral radio from the 1930s in beetle plastic;an original Sunbeam T9 toaster from the mid-1940s that still
toasts bread beautifully. I also collect fountain pen company signage,like aluminum and glass plaques.

I used to collect trees, but had to sell 100,000 of them to send my daughter to university in Europe.

I collect and use:
- 1945-70s russian language books
- fountain pens and ink
- casino chips / poker sets
- foreign banknotes and coins
- experience and memories from travel
I have a habbit to minimize my accumulated items and leave that i use most and probably to make space for new ones.

I used to see how many different varieties of plants I could acquire, and grow. I have always collected books. (not anymore, I have too many) I have always had pets. I have always loved fishing, and have a ton of stuff for that. I have various items of everyday carry stuff. (EDC) Now I have gone nuts over pen, ink, and paper. I have been into fountain pen stuff for almost a year now.

Ah, consumption hobbies lol. I don't collect per se, because once I have too many of whatever I'm buying too much of, I start the brutal process of identifying and getting rid of the chaff. Otoh I do like to update my inventories every 7 years or so. Doing knives and flashlights at the moment. Of course noting going to replace my first generation Delica.

Following my Mother's death in February this year, I found in her effects my (paternal) grandfather's straight razor. This has started something for sure!

Clearly I have been buying! I now shave each day with one or several of these and am learning the honing techniques so necessary. I have to admit that there are five or six more on the way!

Yeah, that's what I'd say I do.
I tend to buy cool-looking bottles containing whatever liquids (for the bottles), and then, in a quasi-Minimalist panic, I throw them out (empty, of course; empty for some time). I do have two now, one that contained red wine and looks like a sortv Etruscan vase/jug and another that contained a Polish honey liqueur that is a very pretty color.
Also, I seem to be abetting an Art Deco lamp collector. But the lamps (the glass lamp shades!) are gorgeous! And... light! I especially need light, what with my night habit.

I'm not really a collector, I just have accumulated significant numbers of certain types of things to count as collections. My collections tend to drive real collectors nuts, because they have no theme and are very uneven. My crazy big collections are CDs, boardgames and roleplaying games. The fountain pen collection is relatively modest by comparison

Rocker blotters and crystal inkwells, but I've called a halt to further acquisitions.I liquidated the last of my antique cars over ten years ago when I realized I hadn't driven one in 18 months, and the storage cost was no longer justified by enjoyment. Pens started about that time.
