    My spidey senses are tingling.
Oh no, does this mean the paperchase pen never arrived? :-( this one was a repeat of a letter that only had to travel about 50 miles from where I posted it, that Royal Mail decided to keep for themselves.

It takes me about a day to write an 8-14 page letter. I admit, I write in front of my computer with FPGeeks forums and email and Facebook open. I watch what comes in electronically and get distracted by related searches triggered by stuff I see coming in. But I to also truly try to write long letters with humor and substance that that flat out takes time.

What tips do you have for being more efficient? Shorter letters? Fewer distractions (not gonna happen, but maybe you have some tips for minimizing the wasted time)? Other?
Wow, 8-14 pages?! My 8 were split over 3 days this weekend. The longest was 6 sides of A5, the shortest was 3 sides of A5. One was a short sympathy card to a friend that lost her Mum last week. So I guess length is a big factor. I also don't tend to have many other distractions around, I write at the kitchen table and only really have my phone with me, and the radio on.

My normal letter is also between 3 and 6 sides of A5 paper

Most my letters were only 2-3 months old. I'm twenty and having a not-actually life crisis due to exhaustion and un-healthy obsessing about my future. All better now though

Your letters are always fun to read and worth the wait. If you enjoy the process you have now, don't change it. I think most would agree that a thoughtful letter written after "too long" is better than a hasty, generic reply.

I'm getting back into my groove now that the back to school rush is over. This weekend I sent out umpteen packages and four letters. One more is on my desk half written, but 4:30 am comes EARLY and I will have to finish it tomorrow.

I would like to know the answer to that question also. I am lucky if I can get 3 written in a day and that is only over a weekend. After working all day I am kucky if I can get 1letter written (usually takes me a couple of hours and that is with no tv, radio or computer on), Personally I prefer writing longer letters however the person I am writing to has to also write a lot. As long as the people you are writing to do not complain I wouldnt worry about how long the letter is. My shortest letter has been 1 letter sized sheet front and back while my longest has been 12 letter sized sheets front and back.

Wow 24 pages and you don't write huge either. Did you need extra postage on that??

For me I really only send mail 2 to 3 times a week. So that handful isn't from the night before it's since I last sent mail

My "production speeds and output" really vary with the correspondent. One conversation may require actual light research if I'm using a non-native language, while another is a deft and happy chat. I think my longest may have been 16 pages, my shortest a Random Zany Postcard.
