    Question Crack repair in Japan?

    Hi all,

I have two pens with cracks that I would like to get professionally repaired... the rub is that I live in Japan and do not know of any services outside of America. I could do a lot of research, but as these are crack repairs I really want someone good and trusted by the community.

One is your classic "faceted Capless" barrel crack that has been killing me for a long time and I finally want to get repaired instead of sitting carefully in storage.
The other is my daughters mini Creeks & Creeks pen, which has developed a crack in the section and it's her favourite pen, and she wants it, but I can't give it to her, so every day she asks when it will be repaired and...

Any and all advice gratefully received,

    SamO

There are repairers who usually suggest plastic 'chemical welding' for barrels and sections made from many versions of plastic. You can always send them to the US for repair. I believe Ron Zorn does this and he's very highly respected.

I don't know how well a Creeks and Creeks section will stand up to a plastic weld type of repair, but Ron or someone like him will know.
Can you not buy a new section for it?

If I lived in Japan, and had a Japanese manufactured pen, my first choice would be to ask the manufacturer if they can repair the 'faceted Capless' barrel, or fit a new one.

At the lower cost end of the scale, I've repaired quite a few barrel and cap cracks with a specialist adhesive called Araldite 2020 that I can get within the UK. I find it it works very well. If you can obtain it, I bet you could fix the 'faceted Capless' yourself.

    Hi Chrissy,

Sorry it's taken so long to respond... I've had a... well, it's been tough.

Thanks for the info. As far as I know Ron Zorn is "THE go to guy" for repairing faceted capless barrel cracks. He is in my back pocket if I can't find somebody locally.

As for a replacement section for the Creeks 'n Creeks pen, that is a great idea... I'm off to check flea-bay...
