Like a good dog or horse, there is nothing shameful in one that is plain or unattractive, but performs well. There's a lot to be said for the concept of shibumi.

It has arrived, my first Visconti Rembrandt, Ivory with Medium Nib, it is an entry level Visconti pen and so far I love it. I inked it with Iroshizuku Yama Budo and have written a response to a Incowrimo letter I received today.

The steel medium nib is the smoothest I have ever written with straight out of the box. I did not prep this pen - I usually flush them first.

There is a slight start up issue if you leave the cap off of a minute after you stop writing. It probably will improve when i flush the pen.

Thank you Bogon07 and Tracy Lee for enabling - er helping me pull the trigger on this pen.

You were right, I do like this pen

The Noodler's Flex in Mandarin Yellow that I bought for my 13 y/o daughter came in today. This is a fairly small pen, in length as well as diameter, but it appears to be the perfect size for her young hands. We read the directions together. After I showed her how to flush it, I had her do so as well, then fill it herself. She has already done a bit of drawing & some calligraphy attempts with it. Unfortunately, I am as drab & reserved as she is bright & vivacious, so the best ink that dad has to offer is a sample bottle of Diamine 'Saddle Brown.'

I saw her checking out Goulet's website a bit ago, and I'm pretty sure there's a bottle of DeAtramentis scented Lilac now occupying my Shopping Cart...

Today is my birthday! So We went out to some local antique stores looking for treasure. There was a lot of broken or overpriced crapola but I did manage to find some keepers. I overpaid for the green Esterbrook as it requires a full restoration but it had a Gregg shorthand nib so I just HAD to have it lol. All told they averaged $30 a pen so I can't complain!

What is the difference in terms of writing with a Gregg nib? (I would love to see a sample, Hector). Is it a thinner line?

I'm not sure. I'll let you know once I've got it restored and writing. Nib is seized right now. I've got a little bit of water in the nib to loosen it up. I did notice using it dry on some paper it was the smoothest of the three esties.

After going back and forth for a while I finally pulled the trigger on this Mont Blanc Platinum Meisterstüc. I will admit I initially wanted one just for the sake of having one in my collection, but since using it this pen writes like butter and I am glad I finally purchased one.

from me too. The intensity of the persimmon swirl colour is amazing. It looks so juicy! The other two are very elegant choices. I particularly admire the cap finish on the M625.

    My arrivals this week are:
    - Platinum Kanazawa Haku Autumn Leaves, F nib.
    - Sailor Pro Gear Sapporo Slim Dark Raspberry, F nib.
    Both from my January budget.

Haven't had the chance to take a photo of the Platinum one, but the new Sailor is already inked.
    img-226105532-0001-1.jpg

I love my full size Pro Gear, but its fuller girth makes it bulkier to carry around in a pocket. This little beauty is perfect. It behaved pretty well out of the box, and is now writing like custom made for me (silky smooth, 6/10 flow, extra-fine and expressive) after a mere 10-second smoothing on a micro-mesh.

I had one of those many years ago, but the barrel cracked down near the nib, and that was it. It was so sad. I didn't know how to repair it, and I sent it to be repaired but they just sent it back to me unrepaired. And now it's gone to pen heaven (I don't know what happened to it).

I just got a Charcoal Lamy Safari.

Not the absolute latest acquisition (awaiting a nice Namiki Falcon from member mhosea), but here's one I picked up and received about a week ago, and cleaned, adjusted and re-sacced last night: a sweet little Moore pen. Capped: 4.25", posted: 5.5". 14k Moore "Maniflex" nib - firm enough for faster writing, but decent flex if you want/need it. I consider it a worthy $35.00 purchase.
