Visconti
I noticed this is not a brand with its own thread. I love this manufacturer and its classic, creative approach to design and the quality they seem to incorporate. I added quite a few to my growing collection and have a feeling 2012 will be the same. Some nibs I haven't been as crazy about (Wall Street, Art Ellenic, Divina Royale) but my Homo Sapiens and my Divina are astoundingly brilliant. I always order medium. Any other Visconti users out there?

If I were forced to choose just one nib to last me the rest of my days, it would be the Visconti 1.3mm 23k palladium stub. Not only is it gorgeous to look at, it's a dream to use.
I've got a Wall Street LE. I've had it for quite some time. I still haven't figured out whether I love or hate the filling system. But it doesn't matter, put that stub nib on a piece of bamboo and I'll happily call it my favorite writing instrument =)

Eric, so good to know another Visconti user! I noticed my kalidescope voyager has a broad nib, one of my first Visconti purchases. I love that too, but you have to have good paper because it is a seriously wet pen. I added an Art Nouveau which arrived last night, but I am not expecting the nib to be any better than the Ellenic which is pretty moderate. I struggle with their filling systems because there are always lots of bubbles in the ink. I have read this is a common problem for Visconti. I just try to be patient. I can't see in the homo sapiens when I fill and it always works fine so that is what matters. Thanks so much for chiming in!

Tracy Lee I have a Visconti Copernicus that I really enjoy. Probably one of my prettiest pens.

Oh. My. Goodness. So lovely, I haven't seen one of those up close. Thank you for sharing! The clip is really a departure, and looks similar to what they do on their Ragtime. Me likey! :thumbup:

I don't have a Visconti...yet. The Divina would be my choice, as well as the Ripple. The Wall Street, too.
Also, if there's enough of a demand for a Visconti forum it can certainly be added.
Divina is a great choice. Slight heft in the hand, easy to hold and a great nib. My clip came off about a month after I bought it and off to Italy it went for repair. Probably an anomaly. Irritating my pen can spend 8 weeks in Italy for $25 (shipping).

This one (an acquisition from ebay back in 2004) has a fine nib and is a great writer. No issues at all with it *except* for when I tore the bladder by accident when I had taken it apart. Fortunately bladder repairs are easy and inexpensive! :-)Originally Posted by eriquito

I have heard rumor of fake Montblancs on eBay, but I've never received any information direct from the proverbial horse's mouth.

I am a temporary visconti user--I am reviewing my grandpa's pen at the moment...honors bio always gets in the way of me finishing the thing....
anyway, I am certainly NOT pleased with the Van Gough maxi (not the new style)--it is very pretty, but the nib on mine is s#$%@. it might just be a dud, (as famous FPN members like Noble Savage have found this pen to have a very good nib..) but it seems to me like the way the design allows for too dry a writing experience....

Maybe a dud? I have a Maxi and use it regularly. I have a medium nib and it leaves a beautiful line. Maybe the nib needs some TLC. And maybe I am just biased because I truly love Visconti.

Well, you were right--I soaked the nib section overnight in a empty eidelstein bottle(I'm running out of ink....), in a soulution of: mostly water, a bit of dish soap (pamolvive pure+clear) and a bit of alchohol. It worked! the pen certainly is a bit smoother(though not that great), but mainly, the nib will right without going dry--my grandpa doesn't use his FP's very much and sometimes forgets to clean them out. This was one of them. I now really realize the large difference between a full flushing under a tap, and an overnight soaking in a special solution.
I'll have to re-write the nib part of my review now.....
