    A bit deviating from the original post, but it might be interesting for you...

    Here is a video that shows the different special nibs Sailor produces (in action):

    The list is
    1:04 Naginata togi (= Naginata grind)
    1:22 Naginata fude DE mannen (= Naginata brush fountain pen)
    1:40 Naginata konkorudo (= Naginata concord)
    2:00 Kurosupointo (= Crosspoint)
    2:20 Kurosu kokorudo (= Cross concord)
    2:42 Kurosu myûjikku (= Cross music)
    3:04 Enperâ shirîzu (= Emperor series)
    3:27 Saibi togi (= very fine, beautiful grind. It is a little play with Chinese characters...)

    "Cross" refers to the ability to write with the backside of the nib, which is often used in Japan/Asia to get a finer line.

    I hope the video explains my infatuation with the nibs, although I yet have to try them. [A naginata is a traditional type of spear/halberd with a special shaped blade - pics can be googled.]

    John, you got it! Those are Vacumatics. They're my favorite vintage pen and the basis of my collection. I'll have to snap a pic of everything when I get a chance.

    Thanks for answering this for me. I'm not sure how I missed that comment.

    I have the envy! Maybe I can divert $60 of my tax return for one just like it.

    Just converted my Kaweco Sport Demonstrator (f nib) into an eyedropper (Waterman Havana) hoping that it will not leak. A better fit for an EDC.

    Thanks for the video. It was really informative to see which grinds created which kinds of lines. (Although the Concord grind physically looks like an accident I had with a technical pen years ago )

    Hey Pinkys.Brain,

    I converted my Kaweco Classic Sport demonstrator to an eyedropper and while it never actually leaked, ink seeped into the area between the nib/feed housing and the section. It made me uncomfortable so I stopped using it as an eyedropper.

    P.S. You're in Germany? Wo, bitte?

    Ink already started seeping into the grip section, despite the silicon grease. But it does not leak so far.

    @p.s.: I am from Heidelberg.

    I have the same pen and likewise turned it into an eyedropper. The ink seeped into the threads but hasn't gotten to the grip area.

    Photos of mine;

    Nomadic PE-10 "wrap" style case...

    26012012071.jpg

    FPs, left to right:

    Rotring Esprit (Fine nib, Diamine Dark Brown), Schneider Base (Medium, LH nib, Diamine Teal), Lamy Vista (EF nib, Lamy Blue), Parker Jotter (Flighter, Medium nib, Parker Quink Black), Pelikan Steno (lives in the pen loop of my pocket Filofax, filled with Diamine Emerald).

    26012012069.jpg

    Non FPs, Left to Right;

    Steadtler Mars Micro mechanical pencil (0.9mm, 2B pentel AIN lead), Worther Shorty clutch pencil (3.15mm HB lead), Parker Jotter Mechanical Pencil (Flighter, 0.5mm HB Pentel AIN lead), Uni-Ball Signo Broad (white gel ink - shows up great on dark coloured paper & card), Parker Jotter Ballpoint (Flighter, with Parker Gel Refill).

    Other Stuff, clockwise from mid left;
    Ancient 512mb USB drive, Post-It tabs for marking stuff in documents and planner pages, Lamy black cartridge, Parker Quink Black cartridge, 2 x Diamine Dark Brown carts, Steadtler Rasoplast Eraser.

    Yes, cartridges - essentially using them up - once they're gone, I'll refill them (in the case of the Esprit) or use convertors, I guess.

    It is a no name eBay find. Not very good other than it protects my pens.

    Those would be my chinese nib grinding practice pens posing as Parker Centenial Duofolds. The one on the left is a Huashilai Centenial in amber. The one on the right is a Kaigelu 316 Centenial Star in charcoal. The Kaigelu has already gone through nib grinding but I have not modified the Huashilai. The Kaigelu is much better quality than the Huashilai even if they look identical. The Kaigelu has a screw in converter and screw in cap. The Huashilai is snap cap and friction fit converter.

    Here are some better pictures of the Huashilai.

    Figured I'd throw my daily carry out here as my first post.

    dailycarry.jpg

    Left to right:
    TWSBI 530, italic stub nib
    LAMY Safari
    LAMY Vista
    Noodler's Ahab
    Montblanc 31 (for taking into meetings)
    Niko .7mm mechanical pencil

    I use a PlePle Choco roll, I love the thing. It was "customized" by my wife, who separated it into individual slots instead of three big slots.
