Cool Organics Studio Ernest's Vintage Writing Fluid Blue Merle

I was really impressed the Ernest's Vintage Writing Fluid, Oscar's copper. I was intrigued by Blue Merle, and decided to give it a shot. From what I've understood, this is a recreation of one of Carter's inks.

However, my sample does not reflect the original Blue Merle, a grey black colour but it's a delicious looking blue-black with a hint of teal:

Let's start with the complex chroma:

    Writing samples:

Note bleed though is because I was using a gusher of a vintage pen.

As usual an art work, inspired by the Old Man and the Sea, entitled, The Magnificent Marlin.
The Sky, the sea and the marlin are all done by Blue Merle, diluted or concentrated. While not visible where the ink has pooled on the marlin, there's sheen.
I also used bleach to create waves.
    Other inks used:
De Atramentis Artist Sepia (boat)/ Polar Brown
Platinum Carbon Black / Pentel Brush Pen

Paper is Canson Mixed Media paper.

    · Pens used: Pilot Kakuno, Lamy Safari (EF/F/M/B/Stub), Vintage Unic Wet Noodle,
    · What I liked: Classy ink, name.
    · What I did not like: A bit on the dry side.
    · What some might not like: Lack of lubrication, doesn’t like copy paper.
    · Shading: Yes
    · Ghosting: If you press hard.
    · Bleed through: If you use a gusher and insist on writing on copy paper.
    · Flow Rate: Wet
    · Lubrication: On the dry side.
    · Nib Dry-out: No.
    · Start-up: No.
    · Saturation: Just enough.
    · Shading Potential: Yes.
    · Sheen: Only in massive applications.
    · Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: No.
    · Nib Creep / “Crud”: No.
    · Staining (pen): No.
    · Clogging: No.
    · Cleaning: Easy
    · Water resistance: Decent.
    · Availability: 55 ml

Please don't hesitate to share your experience, writing samples or any other comments. The more the merrier

Thanks, Yazeh! Interesting chroma, but the ink looks too green for me. Manganese is more my style. Never seen a bearded kitty - must be a new breed. Meanwhile, our poor little fishers look in danger of getting capsized by their giant marlin! (Love the drawing - you did a great job with that marlin!)

Thank you so much, it took me a week to figure out a way to put the team with the Merlin. I might post the different iterations

Yazeh, I had this ink! Loved the name, too. It was part of my years ago Perfect BlueBlack Search. I liked the color, but the sample developed some sort of contamination. I had to dump it.

And I love the painting. Hang tight, Kitteh and Mousie. Thanks again for another comprehensive ink review.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Yes I heard about that. Maybe that's why he changed the formula and came up with this new colour

Love this Yazeh! Thank you for a smashing review and some lovely illustration, both written and drawn.

I don't have any Organics Studio inks - I don't know why, though they aren't easy to get here. I will be tracking this one down, however as I really do like it.

    Hello,

Great colour. Awesome illustration. The Marlin is jumping out the screen. Very cool.

I remember looking for stockists of Oscar's Copper but it isn't stocked at many of the places where OS inks are stocked.

Yazeh where do you buy these from?

I got an error when I tried to find Oscar Copper on Vanness but I don't like Blue Merle so I didn't look for that one specially. I'm currently selling as many of my inks off as I can manage to do. I think there are still some people out there who look out for some unobtainiums.

OS inks are often out of stuck. Oscar's copper is not available anymore on Vanness site. Here are the 11 inks available:
    https://vanness1938.com/collections/...anics%20Studio
There are only 3 inks in the Vintage writing fluid category. Blue Merle, Oscar's Copper and Maebel's Scarlet all three named after the owner's dogs
