    Cool Noodler's Bad Green Gator

Noodler's Bad Green Gator, belongs to the warden series (4 inks). It’s forgery proof.

There are inks that are love and first write, this was one of them, maybe because I have a thing for Gators. But it’s a bad, bad ink. If I didn’t have a bottle of Polar Green, then this would’ve been my go-to green ink. But thankfully iy isn't. Confusing, eh? 🇨🇦

It made the Osmiroid pen, which is dry, write like a dream and no ink normally does, (the pen has flow issues)

But would I recommend it? absolutely not. It’s one of the most difficult inks that I’ve ever cleaned out of a pen. More difficult than Kung Te-Cheng and Polar Green, which are low maintenance compared to this thing. The ink sticks to everything. I had to let it soak in a pen solution twice for long hours. It'll make your Ef and would bleed the bejesus out of any paper. I didn't test it on copy paper, it's pointless when it bleeds through Tomoe River 68gr paper (the thick one_

I would recommend this only for cheap pens with a great seal, and with a F nib on Midori/ Rhodia/ Maruman papers. Or alternatively on thick absorbent papers.

    Let's start with the chroma:

And finally an artwork: Inkotober yearly challenge - Sing
    Other inks used:
    Anderson Pens' Oshkosh Denim
    Platninum Carbon Black
    Super5 - Delhi (orange ink)
    Pen Pébéo Gold Marker
Lierre Sauvage Mixed with a hint of Kuretake Black ink....

    · Pens used: Pilot Kakuno Ef, Lamy Safari (EF/F/M/B, 1.1), Osmiroid Copper Plate
    · What I liked: It made the Osmiorid write like a dream, ultra fast dry times, waterproofness, name.
    · What I did not like: bleed through, limited use, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning,
    · What some might not like: Almost everything about it 
    · Shading: Non-existent.
    · Ghosting: On most papers.
    · Bleed through: same as above.
    · Flow Rate: Very wet
    · Lubrication: Above average.
    · Nib Dry-out: Did not notice.
    · Start-up: No.
    · Saturation: Yes.
    · Shading Potential: Dismal
    · Sheen: Nope.
    · Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Yes.
    · Nib Creep / “Crud”: Did not notice.
    · Staining (pen): It sticks to everything. It's like the Baystate Blue of Greens
    · Clogging: No.
    · Cleaning: High maintenance. Needs pen flush and multiple rounds of it.
    · Water resistance: Excellent.
    · Availability: 3 oz /90 ml bottles.

Please don't hesitate to share your experience, writing samples or any other comments. The more the merrier

Thank you, Yazeh, for enduring this ink and warning the rest of us to stay away from the 'gator! Love your drawings, though - so much fun.

Heh, this is the exact ink which made me stay off Noodler's inks in general.

I forgot now how did I even ended up with a sample vial, but when I tried it, not only I didn't like the color, but as you said, it stained anything it touches and it feels a bit "thick" as in the opposite of watery.

Fantastic! I absolutely love the gator band - they just look so baaaaaaad

I'm pleased that I don't even like the colour of this one - I think it thoroughly deserves its bad reputation.

Thank you as always for putting yourself through the torture test...

They are not all so bad, but the warden series, at least this one, is as bad as Baystate group!

Yah, I hated this ink when I tried it. Everything about it.

But of course thanks for the effort on the review.

Hooray, an ink that I have AND use!

It is employed in a Hero 329 exclusively, for writing checks, and sketching when I want an ink impervious to watercolors. In fact this Bad ink is impervious to everything, including a cleaning. It leaves a stained sac with flakes in it. Flakes of what? Pigment? Shellac? Who knows? But baaad it is.

(Also a little bad is Lierre Sauvage, being dry and reluctant.)

I dilute The Bad One with 90% water for a soft sage green. In hindsight, I should have used BGG in a cartridge/converter pen.

Love the sketches! The BGG trio looks like they are all having a lot of fun. And thanks as always, Yazeh, for these fantastic reviews.

My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Someone else on the overside diluted to 75%, 90%, it must look really lovey. Would love to see your watercolours one day

By coincidence we had a short discussion about Noodler's inks at the Space City Pen Club October Zoom meet. This was how the discussion went:

Many years ago Nathan Tardiff described his Bulletproof inks as being able to resist: "all the known tools of a forger, UV light, UV light wands, bleaches, alcohols, solvents, petrochemicals, oven cleaners, carpet cleaners, carpet stain lifters..." and the like, once it has dried on cellulose paper. Of course, they are also waterproof. However, this effect only applies to cellulose paper. It doesn't apply to Rock Paper, or to non-plant-based sheets such as genuine vellum or parchment (or to skin, for that matter).

I had not heard this before and I didn't know any of this information but the chat continued that apparently, at some point, he offered a monetary prize amount to anyone who could prove his claim untrue. Someone proved it untrue because they claimed that the ink faded when exposed to laser.

Nathan paid out the money and from then on he renamed his inks that were also resistant to fading by laser. At the time these were then reclassified as Warden's inks but are now all prefixed by the word Bad..... Forgery proof - even laser.

(Thanks to Mark Goode for this information)

I remember when this happened. Since I don't usually interact with laser-packing criminals (just the boring bleach-toting ones), I never felt the need for the extra protection.

M: An argument isn't just contradiction.
    A: It can be.
M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.
    A: No it isn't.
M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.
A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.
M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'

I can't remember who contested the challenge to Nathan about forgers being able to use lasers to fade ink. Do you remember or have any more information? Was it some university students who came up with the information and won the money?
