    Default Some Ohashido pens

Ohashido is a brand that has been in business since 1965, when the current operation was founded in Sendai.

It is a family business --the Uehara family-- currently in the hands of Yûichi Uehara. Nowadays, its pens are mostly made of ebonite and implement Sailor nibs.

The production of pens is anything but structured--there are no basic models, no model names,... What you see at the table set by Mr. Uehara is what you get. Sure you can order a pen, but that's another story.

I will add a couple of more pics of Ohashido pens:

The one on the front/bottom, with two golden rings, was manufactured by Eiichi Uehara. The rest, by his son Yuichi.

Brilliant Bill, the price of these pens, in Japan, starts around JPY 70000. And I use JPY on purpose given the late volatility of this currency. There is at least one online shop selling them outside Japan.

    Cheers,

The top one is absolutely cool.

    Excellent reportage as usual, Bruno.
I for the longest time thought that I like these Ohashido pens, just not loving the double-rings.

    Thanks, penwash.

That you liked so much was my first Ohashido.

The surface is decorated with unpolished urushi.

    IMG_3018-blog-3-2-WM.jpg

The nib is made of 21 K gold, and its size is what Sailor calls "big", which is one size below "super big", aka King of Pen.

It would be great if more people showed their Ohashido pens.

I have had a couple older Ohashidos, a large one in raw ebonite and another smaller model in a red patterned urushi. Both were great pens with solid gold cap and barrel rings. Ultimately I ended up moving them along.

If there was an easy way to order one I'd love to get a new one.
