Ink wells - 1856 - new "old" stock - Steamship Arabia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_HnkHUD4pI
Thought you might enjoy seeing the dug everyday treasures from the Steamship Arabia.. dug out of a cornfield where the river once flowed, sunk with full cargo in 1856. The inkwells, and dip pens are not featured, but the camera pans, and you can see them clearly.
Here is the beginning of the tour with the backstory:

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, tytoalba. What treasures have survived after being under water - and then buried in mud and dirt - for years! And think of all the wonderful things that are still awaiting discovery....
This reminds me of the Onoto fountain pen that went down with a ship (sunk by the German's) during WWI; it was recovered in 1987, restored by the esteemed Laurence Oldfield, and worked perfectly after being at the bottom of the ocean for 70 years. Pretty amazing! (Here is a link to the story for those that would like to read the details: Sent to the Ocean )
