    Default Hello from Winston-Salem, NC

    Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, not to fountain pens. I've had a life-long love of them that began when my father gave me a super-cheap Sheaffer when I was a boy (I promptly lost it). I have recently rediscovered this love and been able to add to my collection and begin using my pens in my daily work. I find that when I use a fountain pen my body slows down, as does my writing, and I experience a "deep breath" in the midst of my day. I've been considering joining The Letter Exchange, but am anxious about corresponding with people I don't know (...but I joined a forum didn't I?) and would love to learn to turn kit-less pens as a hobby.

I'm looking forward to conversing with and learning from my fellow addicts...I mean FPGeeks.

My collection as it stands now:
Sheaffer Sovereign II (I think) Snorkel circa 1950 (my grandfather's pen)
Sheaffer Targa 1001x circa 1975 (my father's pen)
Sheaffer Desk Pen (my father's desk pen, I've lost the pen stand)
Lamy Al-Star M nib - brushed AL finish (my first purchase)
Mont Blanc Noblesse CF2 circa 1975
Kaweco Classic Sport F nib (semi-daily carry)
TWSBI 580 Diamond F nib (daily carry)
    TWSBI Micarta v.2 F nib

Welcome to another Tarheel. (I'm actually a lapsed Sandlapper with Tarheel roots.) Sounds like a nice start on a growing? collection.
When I write, I feel like I slowed down, but alas my handwriting shows little evidence of it.

Welcome! Stop by the InCoWriMo thread and get to know some of your penpals before you write them!

    So far:
    Pilot's Syo-Ro
    J. Herbin Rouge Hematite
Noodler's Black Swan (I was lucky enough to get a bottle of the old batch)
    Noodler's Air Corps Blue
    Sheaffer's Persian Rose

I haven't tried all my samples from Goulet Pens yet (can I just stop right here and say that ink samples are a freaking wonderful idea!!!) and a J. Herbin sample gifted to me by VertOlive, so I'm sure the list will lengthen shortly. -a

Greetings and welcome from another North Carolinian (though I defy the term Tarheel!) and I live in Hampton Roads now. Glad to have you aboard our little pen crazy train!
