Default Karas Kustoms "The Bolt G2" Aluminum

    Manufacturer: Karas Kustoms
    Pen: The Bolt G2
    Material: Aluminum
    Action: Click/Bolt action
    Finish: Brushed/Machined Aluminum
    Thickness: .45 inches
    Length: 6.125 inches
    Weight: 1.2 ounces
    Refills: Pilot G2
    Cost: $55.00
Contents: Instructions, Lower pen body, upper pen body, bolt screw, slider assembly, push top, stainless steel clip, spring, allen wrench, plastic tubing.
(Plastic tubing is used as a spacer for other pen refills you may choose)

First of all I was very impressed the the construction and build quality. The pen feels very stable and smooth, no play in the end of pen tip. The bolt action is very smooth and easy to operate and feels very solid when in the locked position. Of course it writes well as it uses the ever so popular Pilot G2 refills.

I was originally looking for a pen that was cosmetically appealing and wrote like a G2, Cross Edge, or Cross Click. I have all of those other pens currently but the unreliability and cost of the Cross inks was getting me. I would use a Cross ink in about a week and half (when they didn't explode all over before that) and they are not cheap at that rate.

So I put out the word on this forum for some help (shout out to velo) and I got many good ideas but this pen seemed to hit the spot. After doing much research myself I finally decided to buy one. I picked it up in person at there new shop in Mesa, as I was in the Phoenix area for a meeting. The main reason for choosing this pen was the novel idea of the bolt action, being very unique material appearance, and durability. I work the tire retail business and it is ruff on everything right down to pens so I needed something that would stand the test of time in my environment.

That looks really fun. Best part is you can mod a G2 refill to take Fountain Pen ink!

Well I did fill two different G2 cartridges with Kon Peki Blue ink. I think that the ink I have is a little to watery because I did fill a bold tip and a fine tip, but they both seemed to flow really quickly but did not leak or anything like that. I did find a couple methods that worked better the second time around to fill them if anyone wants pointers, feel free to pm me.

I have added this to my EDC and when I am forced to using a ballpoint I use this now. I like that it is a durable pen and I can toss it around and it is built for the abuse.

I bought one for a gift for a gun / gearhead friend, and one for myself. Very unique design and well made.
I put Schmidt Ezflow refills in them which write super, last longer and don't bleed like the G2 refills do if left extended.

That opens up another topic. Good point on the survivable ballpoint but I find the Fishers give a smudgy and scratchy writing experience. I prefer the smooth writing of a FP, or roller/gel. I keep one Fisher in the car for the winter or in the rain. Does a great job in that case.

If you haven't tried the EZflow 9000 refill, I highly recommend them.

Sort of cross between a ballpoint and a roller. I get about a month from a G2 or other roller, about 3-4 months from the EzFlow although it feels like a roller.

I have a bunch of them due to the Allegory pens and other KS pens that required rollerball refills.
