Default Kaweco Sport Classic: The UGLY!

A new arrival from Germany - well, not really new. I bought this some months ago and used the nib in another Kaweco and left it in Germany when I moved to Monster Island. And then I had it sent after me.

It is an older model of the Kaweco Sport Classic, I think. Maybe from the early 90's? At least I had not seen it before when I got it from ebay.

The shape/size is the same as that of the newer models. But it has another feed (shorter), and a softer stainless steel nib. You can even get some flex out of it. The nib also has a engraving that is different from the newer nibs ("GERMANY" is engraved at a different palce [close to the grip section], no "since XXX" and the nib size is encircled).

Did I mention that it is an ugly pen! It is a grey one with grey/blue freckles. baeh!

p.s.: The Good would be the EF-nib, The Awesome my BB-nib ground to a right OBB (that needs a little bit more grinding => the BB-nib is the best nib so far for custom grinds. Lots of tipping to play with).

Awesome and thanks for sharing. I don't think the pen is ugly.

its not an ugly pen. But if may not go with everyone's styles and may go too well with some 80's kitchen countertops/cutting boards.

The good, the bad, and the awesome? Love it.

My K aweco Sport has a surprisingly wet, smooth M nib.

That color REMINDS me of something.... Oh, right. Used to have a cleaning caddy with the same finish.

It is ugly in a charming way. I have two Sports (much prettier ) ) and they write incredibly well.

Don't drop it on the sidewalk, you may never find it.

Yes it looks similar to some kitchen bench tops which are still available in Australia. Also the sort of thing they do to indicate they are using recycled plastic in some things. We have a rice storage container that looks similar but with lighter flecks, it is probably 15-20 years old.

Actually I think that plastic suits the pen better than some others like dark reddish brown or blue.
Not ugly just lots of character and the nib appears to write well too.

You've got to love your Kaweco! I don't think it's ugly at all, in fact, I think it looks great. I really love my own two (more homogeneously coloured) modern Kaweco Sports FPs. Both are converted to eyedroppers and both work like a charm.

    Thanks for the great pictures.

Great! The plastic reminds me of those cheap polyethylene (or is it polyurethane) kayaks you see all over the place today. Fun!

I really like the look, only if I could find one nowadays.

That will be hard. I have never seen one on ebay again (Americon and German ebay). Also not web shop has this model. When I bought it the seller also had two other older models...
