Oh, I forgot about Salamander! Salamander is close.
I have tried Diamine Racing Green, and I do like it, but it's a bit browner than MB Racing Green. And it doesn't "feel" the same to me as MB Racing Green. It isn't water-resistant; it doesn't seem to shade quite as much; it's more saturated. It's a nice ink, but I prefer Salamander to Diamine Racing Green.
Diamine Green-black is bluer to my eye. Evergreen has a bit more yellow and so is a closer match color-wise. Salamander is even murkier and, in my opinion, is the best substitute from Diamine. I haven't tried Safari yet (it's on my wish list! let us know how you like it), but the scans I've seen look slightly too yellow.
For me, the best substitute I've found has been MB Swift. The color isn't quite as dark and olive-y, but it behaves very similarly. It flushes clean sooo quickly, it shades beautifully, and it's water-resistant.

Oh, and if you haven't seen it already (someone else may have linked to this earlier, but I can't remember), check out this epic green ink comparison over on FPN: part one and part two. It's really excellent. The scans of all those green inks are very close to what they actually look like in person.

Thanks for that link; the work involved is amazing. ANd if the scans can be believed, then Montblanc Racing Green is really quite distinct and I should say that to my eyes Sailor's Rikyu Cha is the nearest. Interesting that Diamine's Sherwood Green isn't there; I have a bottle of this and I do like it. The Montblanc though, won my favour for its subtlety - and here on paper at home it does look greener than in any of the tests I have seen; I could call it Leylandia for want of a better word.
I shall be happy to produce some writing samples alternating MB Racing Green with the Safari; I'll use two different pens with each ink to try to give a fair test.

I have inks that sit in a shoe box too.

At some point over the festive season, I just might experiment with mixing Salamander and Safari.
One just never knows...

Plus a bit of black and Bob's your uncle.

Thanks for that Chrissy; though as you say it looks grey on the screen here, but then so do other examples of MB's Racing Green elsewhere.
The Safari arrived and a very quick dip test shows it to be pretty good, a nice colour in fact, though it is lighter and not as "coniferous" as Racing Green. I might try mixing it with Sherwood Green as an experiment.

I paid $40 for a full bottle of MB racing green, and I am satisfied with it. I do like the Diamine black green better.
I think all the effort to duplicate MB racing green is astounding. I do like colors that have a lot of black in them, particularly black violet, black red and black green. I would say MBRG is more like a green black.
I have been overhauling some Swans this evening and tried the Safari again, just dipping with a big Swan Leverless (No 4 fine nib) The Safari is closer than I thought at first; I am pretty happy with it.

I've got a fairly good sized stash of MBRG as well as the Diamine Racing Green.. Both are great inks.
I find the Diamine to be very close in color to the MB, but lacks the same flow characteristics. Depending on your nib and preference, I would say go for it.. I think it will likely only set you back $20 or so.
For the first time, my digital photographs appear to have provided a better realism than the scan.
First the scan, and then two snaps showing the samples again with the pens used, for the Safari my Swan 230/50 (with odd cap of course but at least Swan!) and then the National Security button-filler for the Montblanc Racing Green. Sadly my diminishing tiny stock of Racing Green permits of no extravagance in its use!
