Ink Review: Private Reserve 2 Minutes to Midnight LE
Private Reserve 2 Minutes to Midnight Blue is a Limited Edition ink. Thanks to junglejim for my sample that was mystery ink #49.
Here is what junglejim mentioned about this ink: Mystery Ink #49 is a limited edition that comes in a big 110ml bottle. It is Private Reserve's "2 Minutes to Midnight Blue". The title refers to the Doomsday Clock which at the time the ink was produced was at 2 minutes to Midnight (Armageddon). This bottle is numbered 376/1100.
I found it a typical saturated medium to dark blue with some red sheen and I liked it very much. Red sheen is paper and pen dependent and is more easily seen on smooth coated papers when using a medium to broader nibbed pen that is a wet writer. However, dry time will be longer.
I was reminded of my old Private Reserve bottles of Electric Blue and DC Supershow Blue.
- Flow Rate: Very good - quite wet.
- Lubrication: Very good.
- Nib Dry-out: Not noticed.
- Start-up: Immediate.
- Saturation: Very saturated
- Shading Potential: Little to no shading seen. Some red sheen.
- Show-Through: Some seen on Rhodia DotPad
- Spread / Feathering / Woolly Line: Not seen with the papers/pens I used.
- Nib Creep / “Crud”: Not seen, even after several days in the pen.
- Staining (pen): Not seen after several days - easy clean-up.
- Staining (hands): Washed off of my hands after one wash.
- Clogging: Not seen.
- Water resistance: Not tested.
