This isn't about law specifically, but it is some of the "thinking" behind efforts to legislate against transpersons: Ron DeSantis claimed in the last GOP debate that Disney was engaged in practices of "transing kids" [sic].
DeSantis's words here are another instance of a politician lying in a damaging way about a vulnerable minority group to pander to his reactionary and bigoted base.

Commies? No.
Gender-fascists? Likely.
"A truth does not mind being questioned. A lie does not like being challenged."
In addition to being identified as communist by TS, pink news describes itself as “the world’s largest and most influential LBGTQ+ media brand,,,,”. No agenda there.
Both PN and TS think you won’t notice that there is no quote in the smear piece quoting DeSantis as using “transing” in a sentence.
This is an example of the pinknews people.
They’re sick.

Mapping Attacks on LGBTQ Rights in U.S. State Legislatures in 2024
Maine makes the list because one gender sports bill was introduced in 2023 (voted down in both the House and the Senate). NH has had a recent flurry and has moved up the list a bit. Missouri and Iowa lead the nation, presently. Fifteen states have no recent record of anti-LGBTQ bills.
And just in the last week an Oklahoma representative introduced an anti-"furry" bill that would empower animal control with picking up said student from school if a parent cannot. We have such enlightened leadership, eager to work with psychologists and school counselors! Heartwarming. He did say he was being sarcastic. The target of the sarcasm was children and schools and parents, not anti-queer bullying.

Previous poster has learned, and apparently supports, the concept of “species identity.” Post 603.
TSherbs seems unaware of Maine's proposed legislation that would remove children from parents who do not support the chemical castration or body mutilation of their minor child.
They of course use more flowery, Orwellian language in their characterizations. I'd cite the text, but it's word-salad (not surprisingly). Those interested in wading through it can find it at This LINK.

Isn’t there something about Maine becoming a “transgender sanctuary state?”
Ohio board lets transgender candidate proceed despite dead name snafu. GOP governor calls for law change to accommodate trans candidates.

Here's the narrative pivoting - mainly because the whole trans movement has been a political disaster.
The Atlantic: Britain Confronts the Shaky Evidence for Youth Gender Medicine
Britain Is Leaving the U.S. Gender-Medicine Debate Behind
The Cass report challenges the scientific basis of medical transition for minors.
In a world without partisan politics, the Cass report on youth gender medicine would prompt serious reflection from American trans-rights activists, their supporters in the media, and the doctors and institutions offering hormonal and surgical treatments to minors. At the request of the English National Health Service, the senior pediatrician Hilary Cass has completed the most thorough consideration yet of this field, and her report calmly and carefully demolishes many common activist tropes. Puberty blockers do have side effects, Cass found. The evidence base for widely used treatments is “shaky.” Their safety and effectiveness are not settled science.
The report drew on extensive interviews with doctors, parents, and young people, as well as on a series of new, systematic literature reviews. Its publication marks a decisive turn away from the affirmative model of treatment, in line with similar moves in other European countries. What Cass’s final document finds, largely, is an absence. “The reality is that we have no good evidence on the long-term outcomes of interventions to manage gender-related distress,” Cass writes. We also don’t have strong evidence that social transitioning, such as changing names or pronouns, affects adolescents’ mental-health outcomes (either positively or negatively). We don’t have strong evidence that puberty blockers are merely a pause button, or that their benefits outweigh their downsides, or that they are lifesaving care in the sense that they prevent suicides. We don’t know why the number of children turning up at gender clinics rose so dramatically during the 2010s, or why the demographics of those children changed from a majority of biological males to a majority of biological females. Neither “born that way” nor “it’s all social contagion” captures the complexity of the picture, Cass writes.
What Cass does feel confident in saying is this: When it comes to alleviating gender-related distress, “for the majority of young people, a medical pathway may not be the best way to achieve this.”
