Here are some images of another hobby of mine. When I get home in the evening, I like to unwind by checking everyone out to see how they are doing. There are others, but this is who is in bloom right now.

Your roses are gorgeous. My mother has pretty much had to stop growing them in Missouri (except for Lenten Roses) because they get black spot so easily.

Ooooohhhhh....roses
Do they smell beautiful? My mom has some that look great but no perfume.

Lovely! When I was in MI I had a rose garden with about a hundred antique varieties. Finally back in a climate where i can grow them, so I'm slowly rebuilding, no one big enough to bloom yet, but oh these pictures remind me of what a few years can do!

Some years the black spot is worse than others. I've had some cultivars in the last that I removed because they didn't thrive here.
Most of these are perfumed. The Souvenir de la Malmaison, third from the top, has a sweet "rose" scent that drifts across the yard and onto the porch.
These were all planted five to seven years ago. This us the first place I've had room to grow anything, and I've learned by trial and error. The old garden roses are my favorites.

Your garden looks lovely, tiffany. My mother has a garden as well, and as a child I always lingered there to see all sorts of plants and little critters crawling and flitting around her garden. It''s quite beautiful.

I'll post pics in a couple of weeks. Our daffodils finally bloomed yesterday and the trees are budding. Hurray!

Tiffyhenshal, your request sent me out into the garden this afternoon, I'm no gardener but my wife is keen on keeping our little patch colourful, here's a few that caught my eye today, my assistant, Harry, thought I was mad and sat in the house with his mate Claude the cat

Daffodils, various teeny wild bulbs including crocus, and a trio we planted (pansy, tulip, hyacinth) both to fill in a depression and lift the depression following the third nasty winter in a row.
One of my hydrangeas appears not to have survived this winter. I hope the others did.
Lovely roses, Tiffany. Wish we could grow some here.

What lovely, bright colors, Potter, and such an attentive assistant! It looks like he and Claude get along well. ;-)

That's always so disappointing! I tend to have the opposite problem. Our summers can get brutal. I would love to grow some Lady's Mantle and Foxglove, but I haven't been successful yet. I think the sun is too intense in mid summer. This is our eighth year on the property, though, and some of the trees are maturing. I am thinking of planting some shade lovers now that there is a hint of shade.

With my left arm out of action photography is a bit tricky. A shame as the garden in spring is a joy, and this year the warm spring has been exceptional. The amelanchiers are flowering, though and the wisteria looks set to bloom next week...

Do it! They like shade.
I just noticed my forsythia blooming! Woohoo.
PS: We just planted pinks and potatoes! Had no intention of doing it today, but weather cleared, we picked up some soil, saw the pinks (along with Black Russian, Black Krim, and some other kind of tomato seedling), and did it. Also seeded some grass and clover. Whew.

I am so jealous. We are still having ice and snow. I was looking forward to posting images of my gardens, but now I am beginning to think I will not have any this year.
Freeze warning. In come the 'maters and 'taters.
