Thinking of a change of venue it seems to me that the requirements are food drink and decent lighting, especially the latter as inks and nib grinding are both difficult in the gloom of the dungeon.
Annie suggested the RIBA cafe in Portland Place; I would also suggest the Marquis Cornwallis on Coram St, opposite the Bloomsbury Holiday Inn where the last Pen Show was held

I'm afraid I have no suggestions: I have avoided central London for years and so am not "in the know" regarding suitable places.

Anywhere reasonably near a Tube station suits me.
(I'm just a bit worried that if we go somewhere too bright and the sunshine hits us, that we'll all go up in smoke!)

For the convenience of getting there I would prefer "The Marquis Cornwallis" followed by the "Riba Cafe". The "Riba Cafe" unfortunately would be very difficult for me to get to.

Actually it is very near the Holiday Inn where the London Pen Show takes place. Nearest underground is Russell Square.
