Banned From FPN?

One thing I find MANY people forget is that these forums are PRIVATELY OWNED... and thus, the admin/owner can set their own rules. Participation is free anyway. It's a privilege to use those forums, not a right. Just like driving.

I find that people don't frequently forget, especially as they are reminded of it constantly.

They are also equally free to not like how a board is run, criticize it, and move to another virtual spaces. SO LONG AS WE ARE TAKING THE TIME TO STATE THE OBVIOUS.

I am glad you dig the place. My participation there is minimal, esp. now that the classifieds are pretty much useless there.

And often not. FFS, do we always need to have the same 'arguments'? We are here, not there. People come here because they don't like it there. Why sit around and talk about how it's not so bad over there? In an open setting such as this, you are more than welcome to, but it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to be an FPN apologist here on FPG.

Or, here AND there? Must it be binary? It's not for me...I like both for different reasons. I have lots of friends there, some new friends here, like much/most of what I see in both and don't need one to be bad for the other to be good.

Poorly phrased on my part. The over-riding thought should be "to each their own", and people can be free to go to any place for their interests. What I was trying to highlight was that for those people who have had issues at FPN, places like FPG and reddit and various FB groups are alternatives, and some have truly walked away from FPN (I still visit and comment occasionally). I find it tiresome to be told, ad nauseum, that it is the problem of the user and not the forum administration that causes people to leave.

Your point is well-taken: it need not be binary. I can, though, understand why some would leave for good.

Well, I don't know and I don't give a darn. Let's not split hairs, if they're over here, naturally, there's both sides to hear! The privilege is theirs! No use in putting on heirs, when the pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle, not the brew that is... wait what was the question again?

On a serious note I've noticed a fall-off in activity from a particularly knowledgable FPN member after a thread was closed, with depressing hints about certain contributors being on thin ice. I hope he hasn't had a temporary ban or some of those 'naughty points' that were briefly & accidentally for all to see. While tenacious in his arguments I have never seen an insulting or rule-bending post from this individual.

Well, it seems my turn has come up to be banned from FPN.

Without warning now I can't access or even see FPN unless I access the site from another computer in which I haven't registered my name and password. As soon as I enter my information I lose access to the site and I just get a blank screen.

After some 2,000+ posts I would think that I'd get at least some kind of warning...

O well... shit happens.

It may not be anything as dramatic as a ban. Since the server upgrade they seem to have been all sorts of nonsenses going on - a couple of people have reported blank screens such as you describe. Inevitably the advice has been "clear your cache". Hey, it might work, you never know!

That's most likely not banned. That sounds more like a technical server related issue.

I've tried everything from clearing the cache to trying to access the site from different places, computers, iPads and my iPhone and no dice.
When I accessed the site from a computer that I have never used to sign on to FPN I was successful. However, once I proceeded to input my name and password the site disappeared and the screen would turn blank.
My only satisfaction is that I have been kicked out of better places...

Banned in 2015, joined here 2 days later.

I would be the only one to post in this thread who told the admin and moderators on FPN to "F*** ***" along with plenty of other things including accusing them of not banning a cheating member just because she donates.
