Hi

I have a 400NN with a damaged nib. How do I remove it from the feeder assembly? Do you have suggestions for where to find good spare nibs?

Thanks,
Ulf

Same process as in this article http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/pendoctor/22.htm

You'll need a knock out block, something like this: http://www.pendemonium.com/penrepair.htm or make your own with 5mm bit, to make a 6mm hole for Pelikan 400 size nib.

Loose nib for sale here: http://www.martiniauctions.com/item/id/Pelikan_400_400NN_goldnib_size_OM_7700.html ... Or post a WTB thread here. Etc.

If you can't find a 400/400NN nib your easiest and most economical alternative to get your pen working again would be to buy a M200 steel nib/feed assembly: all you have to do is screw it in.

Thanks. I have browsed the info from the links from Tony, may be a bit challengeing for me to follow. I will probably destroy something. A simple replacement of the nib unit might be safer for a newbie like myself.

Ubremin, they are several nib specialist within the EU you can send the nib to. It can be repaired and adjusted to your needs. www.golnibs.com is one of them. It's Romillo's nibmeister.

Thanks, I managed to unscrew the nib-unit and then peeled off the threaded collar, without any tools, using my fingers/nails only. So the nib itself is now dismounted. It appears the collar has been replaced before. The collar is oblique/black. Another one I have is transparent. I will check with goldnibs to see if they can help me. martiniauctions has some odd nibs, I want a F-nib.

... just found the "thanks" feature :)

The transparent ones are uber brittle and highly prone to split. If the black one is in good shape you should reuse that one.
I do it with my fingernails and heat only also but did not want to tell you to do that on yours..

Hi - a short update what happened, two months ago....

I bought a new collar (two actually, one spare...) Thank you CrisC for this tip (http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/10051-Spare-Pelikan-400-nib-unit-collars?p=109545#post109545)

http://www.custompenparts.co.uk/peli...connector.html

Then I found spare nibs from Tom in Germany/Italy penboard.de

Thank you Tom. Just received the nib, after minor adjustments and smoothing to my preferences, the 400NN pen is now very pleasant to use.

BTW: penboard.de currently lists ca 68 Pelikan nibs, vintage and current models! This was a new site for me, and Tom had exactly the nib I wanted. So case closed now...

Cheers,
Ulf
