For sale is a vintage Aurora 88 with a very low serial number of 46948 which would date it to approximately 1946. The Aurora 88 features a celluloid barrel with an ebonite section and piston knob that are showing early signs of slight discoloration. This particular pen features a Nikargenta cap that has seen its fair share of use. Nikargenta was Aurora’s most expensive option when originally released. The Nikargenta imprint on the backside of the cap is clearly visible.

The “Aurora 88″ and serial number imprint in the section are crisp and clean, but there are some small marks on the section from someone using the improper tools while trying to remove the secion. The barrel where the section screws into is free of cracks and the original piston seal is in great condition. I’ve filled the pen with both ink and water and it fills full with no leaks. The ink window is ambered but good enough to see when you’re low on ink.

The 14k gold nib is smooth and flexible but, as you can see in the images above, the tip of the feed is broken which hampers the flow when flexing the nib. When not flexing the nib the pen performs flawlessly with a very consistent flow that’s neither wet nor dry. This pen would make a great daily carry/user pen. $140
