For sale is a Montegrappa Extra in Midnight Blue celluloid, the precursor to the Extra 1930 that we know today. The Extra was introduced in 1999 while the newer, slightly revised Extra 1930 was introduced in 2005. You can read more about the pen’s history here (http://montegrappa-history.com/classica.html). The Montegrappa Extra features a piston filling system and solid .925 sterling silver hardware including the section, cap band, clip, and end pieces on the cap and piston knob.

The massive 18k gold nib is as large as that found on the Montblanc 149 and is truly a sight to behold. The medium nib in this pen has been ground to a 0.5mm cursive italic. If the buyer chooses, the nib can easily be smoothed into a stub or brought back to its original round point at no additional cost.

The Midnight Blue celluloid is comprised of a dark blue, almost black base with streaks of light blue shimmering throughout. It show’s up pretty well in the first image above, but definitely check out the video at the bottom of this post to see the entire pen. The barrel imprint reads “MONTE GRAPPA EXTRA” and is reminiscent of their older designs.

This is a wonderful pen and an even better writer. The only reason I’m selling it is because I have an Extra 1930 and I’m trying to raise funds to go to the 2015 LA Pen Show. The pen is in very good condition with only minor surface scratches that could easily be polished out to bring back that pristine, factory new look. $600 $540

Price includes USPS First Class shipping in the US. USPS Priority small flat rate box is $6. USPS Priority small flat rate box with insurance is $13. International shipping available via USPS Priority Mail International for $30.

Thanks, jar. They don't come up all that often. Hope I don't regret this later.
