I saw on FPN that Costco is selling a nice wooden tool case. I remember someone here posting something similar from an online store. According to the OP on FPN the Costco version is nicer. I can't attest for that statement. When I went to Costco it was sold out. The store clerk said they can't keep them on the shelves. A new shipment came in on Friday and I grabbed one for $100. The tool box is beautiful. All lined with felt. I figured I would pass the tip on. The FPN thread mentioned sometimes people can a coupon which can bring the cost down. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/18/ce51e7118098a7cc01739d40cb2080d4.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/18/7b36db340c38de01ddf639c66007baad.jpg

Seeing these pics, I'm guessing I have a fountain problem if I plan to fill it. Ugh!

That Costco case looks very nice.

I'm very happy with it. Yes, the finish is excellent. The drawers open/close smoothly and are finished beautifully. It's a good reasonably priced solution for storing a ton of pens.

I'm not sure. FPN thread mentioned it was on the Costco website, but I didn't look for it there. So not sure. You'll need a membership to order off their site.

This is a link to the one mentioned in a FPG thread. $80 with free shipping.

Yes, thank you very much for the heads up. I have a centralized place for my pens instead of all over the place.

And it's not full.....yet.

BTW, pen trays are on clearance at http://www.pendorapens.com/collections/pen-tray-liner-inserts

Wouldn't you have to be a member, though?

I should admit right here and now that I am the one and only person in the entire world who doesn't like Costco. The size of the place, and the giant size of everything for sale, just gives me a complex. I was so happy when I could give up my membership.

I know. I should just move to France, right? I am a pitiful excuse for an American.

I guess I figured since Matt was wishing there was one in OK, he might be a member? Though that doesn't really pan out, does it? Nevermind...

Naw, we like you right were you are. Oh, I'm certain you have issues, but I'd never make you move to France! And besides, Costco has hockey cakes, for crying out loud!

I'm with Laura. I hate Costco. It's the worse shopping experience on this planet. Plus as I single person I don't need 50 pounds of bananas or 10 boxes of Kleenex.

My mom on the other hand LOVES Costco. She goes every week to putz around and buy her odds and ends. She was kind enough to get the box for me. Moms are the best :)

Okay, a hockey cake????

That does make me rethink things.

Otherwise, Vive la France. "Aux armes, citoyens!"

Ok, my Costco case arrived yesterday, and I unpacked it last night. It is MUCH better quality than the Harbor Freight knock-offs, very much worth the minimal $40.00 price tag. I'm considering a second, only because a posting somewhere else brought up the comment that they bought one last year at Costco for $90.00, have watched the price drop, and the local Costco person said that they thought they were blowing them out to discontinue them. I can't corroborate, but I'm glad I got this one.

This looks super. The only drawback is having my pens all in one place where my husband can get a head count.....

It's got a place for a padlock...lock it up. "Keep things safe" type of excuse. ;)

For those of you who purchased a case (or intend to) and haven't ordered pen trays or made any, a couple of FPNers, in their dedicated thread, came up with a nice solution. Heavy card stock, scored and folded, accordion-bellow-style. First case was 3/4", but the following user (Fabienne) went with 1/2" slots and it is a better use of space. Seems like a pretty elegant solution:

You can go a little fancier than that too, if you want. Most art supply stores sell what's called "flocked paper". It has a fuzzy surface like what you find in commercial pen trays, and comes in a variety of colors. I used it to make the liner for these cigar box storage trays. (As always, pardon my photos. My phone doesn't have a great camera.)

I don't *always* cheap out on things, but I kept going over in my mind the layout of the drawers and how to maximize any of the pen trays I would purchase. As in the posts above, using card stock, folded, to line the drawers seemed like a good trial balloon. Experimented a bit, settled on 1/2" folds, got some nice light gray card stock from a local art store (couldn't find any flocked stuff at this store, maybe later) and - bing! - was done in a little while. Here's a shot of one of the large drawers to give an idea. Also illustrates how I need to find just 5 more Moores (one is in restoration queue) to fill out the row:
