This one turned up fairly recently. Sheaffer Balance pens with solid gold cap-band ( +/- solid gold clip) are called Autographs. Fairly scarce in colors other than black or mottled Marine Green. Catalogues show 14k gold for the Autographs.
Balance Autograph in Ebonized Pearl Celluloid is not at all common. I'm pleased to own a few.
Autograph in off-catalogue 10k gold? Amazing.
No one knows why these were done, though the usual hypotheses apply.
This is the only one I've seen in Ebonized Pearl, though I'd not be surprised if Pat has one. "One of a kind" pens are fun.
A lucky find on ebay, selling for a song.
You might never handle a 10k Autograph in Ebonized Pearl, but if you find one in another size, do give a yell ;)

The neat thing is, I merely dabble with Balance, but once I turned in this direction my pen hunting skills honed on Parker's Vacumatic, weird Balances just keep happening. No complaints. There are exotics out there still. Finding them just requires a careful eye.
