HisNibs.com update -- Catalina and Cherry Vanilla
August 8th, 2012

Greetings,

In this newsletter we introduce the second line of Monteverde's California-themed pens -- the Catalina. This joins the Napa line.

Joining the Duke Harlequin, introduced in the last newsletter, is the scrumptious Cherry Vanilla, another in the #116 series of fountain pens.

As this newsletter goes out to a mailing list of thousands of customers (July marked our 15th year of business), please understand if there's a delay in answering your email queries or orders after one of these is sent. We will respond in order received and as soon as possible!

Join us on our Facebook HisNibs.com fan page which can be reached directly at https://www.facebook.com/HisNibs1. Come join us for what has become a lively meeting place for news about pens, ink and handwriting.

Monteverde Catalina

The Catalina is a full-sized pen, measuring 5-1/4" capped, 6-1/8" posted and 5" with cap held aside. Let me start by quoting Monteverde's description of the pens:

"The bold and stunning rings on the cap and the pearlized colors of the Catalina collection immediately take you on a nautical journey to your favorite island getaway. A quick one hour boat ride from the coast of Los Angeles, California and you arrive at the incredible beauty of crystal blue water and sandy beaches of Catalina Island that are awaiting for you. The revolutionary clip with a roller wheel facilitates easy placement in your pockets, and like a trustworthy anchor, provides firm adherence."

Now, I won't claim that the pens will take you on a nautical journey to a far-away island , but Monteverde has done a very nice job with their second line of California-themed pens (home of Monteverde), following the recently introduced Napa (http://www.hisnibs.com/napa.htm). Like the Napa, the Catalina sports the newly-designed clip with its roller-wheel, for easy -- and secure -- pocket placement. The clip also displays the Monteverde mountain logo, which is reprised on the cap top.

Duke Cherry Vanilla #116 series

It's not often that I want to eat a fountain pen, but it's been difficult to resist with the Cherry Vanilla.

Joining the Harlequin of the Duke #116 series -- introduced in the last newsletter -- these pens (like the Carbon Fibre (http://www.hisnibs.com/carbon_fibre.htm) version I've carried for many years) -- are full-sized pens with classic lines. Measuring a bit over 5-/14" capped, its posted length is a full 6-1/4" and 4-3/4" with cap held aside.
