My usual disclaimer here: I am not a professional pen restorer rather I am a self taught pen repairman. The pens I am offering up aren't usually Mint/Near Mint/Excellent condition and the prices reflect that fact. These were user grade pens from a bygone era. My attempt is to bring them back to life in the hopes that they will be used as the wonderful tools of creation they once were. Where applicable I use Richard Binders website for repair information, Pen Identification and a myriad of other nuggets of wisdom. I have replaced the sacs in these pens, cleaned and polished them. They have been reassembled with care and as much precision as I am able to accomplish.
Waterman's 302 Silver Celluloid Flex Medium - This pen came to me advertised as never used. Upon receipt I did a once over and from the outside the pen looked to be a complete NOS, stickered item. It did have an ossified sac. When I pulled the section and removed the sac, part of the section nipple broke free as well. Due to this, I had to use a section from a Waterman's 302 that had a broken barrel. That is why this listing is for a (Nearly) NOS pen. On to the pen. Features a lovely Waterman's Ideal 14-KT 2A Made in U.S.A. nib, that is on the finer side of medium and does indeed show signs of flex with mild to moderate pressure. The body and cap are in amazing condition, with a few microscratches from being in a Waterman's box for all these years and I assume rattling around a bit. There is no major flaws beyond this having a donor section installed that is from another pen and is slightly oxidized. The clip and lever are strong, the pen comes in a Waterman's (I assume original box) with corresponding paperwork. When I cleaned the feed and nib I found zero evidence of ink, leading me to believe this pen was not inked. For that purpose I have not provided a writing sample. The tines were aligned when I received the pen and remain so. All in all this is a lovely pen in near perfect condition. - [85] reduced to 75 USD
