Hello all, I'm a new FP enthusiast. I plan to purchase a Lamy Safari in charcoal black, along with a converter. This pens primary use will be daily use, both work and play. I work in the banking industry, and the ability to distinguish between copies and originals is important to me. I want the ink to match the pen by at least being dark in some way. I like blue, but not for this pen. A blue/black with strong blue tones would work. I like Noodlers kung te cheng, but have read it could clog the pen. I will be using the Lamy fine nib. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I just have Lamy Blue Black, Waterman Blue Black (Mysterious Blue) and Kaweco Blue Black cartridges and prefer the Waterman ink.

Thanks for the responses so far. In my head I'm thinking of a deep blue black, possibly a deep purple black. Something that really has character. I like the Diamine Denim, so that has potential.

Private Reserve Midnight Blues and Noodler's Bad Blue Heron are two nice blue-black inks I own.
I also have Waterman Blue-Black but I find it a bit on the 'teal' side. Pelikan Blue-Black is nice, too, but not as dark as I'd like. Of course, when you are talking about inks, no two people see the same ink the same way...and naturally, inks will look different when used in different pens (and even the same pens with different nibs). The Goulet's Ink Swab interactive tool is very helpful :D

For a Lamy Safari in charcoal, Noodler's Nightshade is a good match in terms of barrel colour.
Noodler's Midnight Blue is choice if you are favouring Blue-Black.
Caran D'Arche is a lighter blueblack tending darkgrey with a vague hint of bluepurple. But shake the bottle before filling your pen or you will get a light grey. Sort of like Waterman blueblack but a bit expensive.

As Maja says "Goulet's Ink Swab interactive tool is very helpful".....for decimating your credit card. :D

Here is a gentle push down that slope - the FountainPenNetwork Ink reviews:

After much deliberation...
Bad Belted Kingfisher.
Better for work being bulletproof etc.
I'll sample the others in the near future.
